Our challenge
The Platform Engineering – Kubernetes GPU Infrastructure serves as the authoritative Kubernetes cluster configurations and GPU-enabled platform design. This role provides direct validation against real, in-use cluster configurations, ensuring that agent and platform designs align with actual operational, storage, and GPU topology constraints.
Additional Information
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Chandler, AZ is $100k - $110k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Provide access to and validation against actual Kubernetes cluster configurations, not abstract or theoretical designs.
- Confirm that proposed agent and platform architectures are compatible with current cluster topology, scheduling constraints, and operational patterns.
- Act as the final technical authority on Kubernetes-level feasibility for platform and agent designs.
- Validate the Prometheus deployment model, specifically PVC-backed persistent storage for metrics retention and reliability.
- Confirm storage class behavior, volume lifecycle, and resilience characteristics as they relate to Prometheus and long-running collectors.
- Ensure observability designs align with platform standards and operational realities.
- Confirm GPU node topology, including node labeling, taints, tolerations, and scheduling strategies.
- Validate DaemonSet placement models for GPU-scoped workloads and agents.
- Ensure GPU workloads and agents are deployed only where intended and supported.
- Validate DCGM exporter configuration for GPU metrics collection.
- Confirm exporter deployment patterns, permissions, and resource access required for accurate GPU telemetry.
- Ensure agent designs correctly consume GPU metrics without introducing instability or performance impact.
- Participate as an SME in architecture reviews, design walkthroughs, and technical deep dives.
- Identify gaps between proposed designs and real platform constraints early in the lifecycle.
- Provide clear guidance and corrective recommendations to platform, data, and agent engineering teams.
Requirements
- Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes cluster operations in enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of DaemonSets, node affinity, taints/tolerations, and scheduling mechanics.
- Experience validating designs against live cluster configurations.
- Strong knowledge of Prometheus architectures, including PVC-backed persistent storage models.
- Understanding of Kubernetes storage primitives, storage classes, and volume lifecycle behavior.
- Hands-on experience with GPU-enabled Kubernetes clusters.
- Familiarity with GPU node configuration, scheduling, and isolation strategies.
- Experience with NVIDIA DCGM and DCGM exporter deployment and configuration.
- Ability to operate as a trusted SME and design validator, not just an implementer.
- Strong communication skills to explain platform constraints to architects and engineers.
- Comfort challenging designs that are not aligned with operational reality.
