SUMMARY
Provides metallurgical expertise at a 1,350 ton per day Lead-Zinc-Silver surface concentrator and concentrator to develop, maintain and continuously improve upon the operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Oversees all metallurgical aspects of milling operations:
- Grinding, flotation, reagents, de-watering, tailings and water treatment
- XRF analysis system
- Metallurgical reports
The Concentrator is highly instrumented and the metallurgists also work with PLC based:
- Graphic operator interfaces
- Process data storage, retrieval, trending and on-line mass balancing
- Expert; advisory and supervisory control systems
- Modeling software
- Uses bench scale, pilot scale, and plant scale testing or analysis of plant data to investigate, develop, refine, and improve the metallurgical and materials balance flow sheets.
- Remains current on metallurgical and processing developments in the area of complex massive sulfides, collaborates with internal and external resources, and ensures Lucky Friday is informed and led on a technologically superior basis.
- Must be willing to comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Participates in Risk Assessment activities as required.
- Participates in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as required.
- Complies with applicable environmental laws and regulations. Conducts activities and work in an environmentally responsible manner. Is aware of procedures to minimize impacts to the environment.
- Follows and understands MSHA rules and regulations, environmental rules and regulations, SOP, and work area instructions, participates in safety and environmental activities. Leads by example by adhering to rules and regulations, and ensuring compliance with rules and regulations established by the Concentrator department.
- Must be able to work and communicate with other members of the work team.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgy or related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience.
- Prior experience at a Silver-Lead-Zinc Concentrator preferred.
- Advanced computer skills involving Excel and databases, and the programming and understanding of computer-controlled instrumentation are preferred.
