Align your credentials to Fastly's infrastructure stack
Fastly's edge network relies on physical hardware at scale. Highlight hands-on experience with server hardware, cabling, or data center environments in your resume. Credentials like CompTIA A+ or vendor-specific hardware certifications strengthen your candidacy for their technician roles.
Target Fastly's data center locations strategically
Fastly operates points of presence across multiple U.S. metro areas. Identify which cities have active Mechanical Technician postings and confirm your preferred location supports H-1B or TN work authorization before applying, since site-specific hiring teams often manage sponsorship approvals independently.
Ask about OPT and CPT before your first interview
If you're on F-1 status, clarify whether the role qualifies for STEM OPT extension at the screening stage. Mechanical Technician positions in technology infrastructure can qualify under eligible SOC codes, giving you up to 36 months of work authorization before an H-1B is needed.
Confirm LCA filing timelines during the offer stage
Before countersigning any offer, ask Fastly's HR team when they plan to file the Labor Condition Application with DOL. LCA certification typically takes seven business days, and your I-129 petition can't be filed until it clears, so early clarity prevents delays in your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
Searching broadly across job boards wastes time on roles where sponsorship isn't confirmed. Use Migrate Mate to filter Fastly's Mechanical Technician openings specifically by the visa types you need, so you're only applying where your immigration situation is already a match.
Prepare your TN documentation if you're Canadian or Mexican
TN visas for Mechanical Technicians require demonstrating the role fits a qualifying USMCA category, which can be tricky for technician titles. Work with your employer contact to confirm the job description maps to an approved TN profession before requesting a TN support letter from Fastly.

Find Mechanical Technician at Fastly JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Fastly sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Technicians?
Yes, Fastly sponsors H-1B visas for technical roles including Mechanical Technicians. Because H-1B eligibility requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, the job description typically needs to specify a bachelor's degree requirement in a relevant engineering or technical field. Confirm the specific role's requirements with Fastly's recruiting team before applying.
How do I apply for Mechanical Technician jobs at Fastly?
You can find open Mechanical Technician positions at Fastly through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility upfront. Tailor your application to highlight data center, hardware, or network infrastructure experience, since those are the core competencies Fastly looks for in this function.
Which visa types are commonly used for Mechanical Technician roles at Fastly?
Fastly sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for technical roles. H-1B is the most common path for long-term work authorization. F-1 students in STEM-eligible programs can work under OPT or CPT before transitioning to H-1B. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status depending on how the role is classified under USMCA.
What qualifications does Fastly expect for Mechanical Technician candidates?
Fastly's Mechanical Technician roles typically require hands-on experience with hardware installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in data center or network infrastructure environments. A degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field strengthens your application. Familiarity with structured cabling, cooling systems, or server rack deployment is a practical differentiator given Fastly's edge network operations.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take when starting at Fastly?
From offer acceptance, the process runs through DOL's LCA certification (roughly seven business days), then USCIS petition filing. Standard processing takes three to six months. Premium processing reduces the USCIS adjudication window to 15 business days for an additional fee. If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, cap-gap rules may let you continue working while your petition is pending.
