Frame your operations credentials for retail
Gap's AOM roles emphasize inventory management, workforce scheduling, and floor execution. Translate your resume into those terms before applying. Generic operations language gets filtered out faster than a tailored match to retail-specific competencies.
Target stores in high-volume markets first
Gap's flagship and high-traffic locations in markets like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago tend to carry more open AOM requisitions. Focusing your search on these locations increases your chances of finding a role with active headcount and sponsorship budget.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility before the offer stage
Gap sponsors multiple visa types for operations roles, including H-1B, E-3, and TN. Raise your visa status during the recruiter screen, not after an offer, so the hiring team can confirm internal authorization to proceed with sponsorship before you invest in the full process.
Understand Gap's PERM timeline for long-term planning
If your goal is a Green Card through an EB-2 or EB-3 pathway, Gap has supported PERM-based sponsorship for operations staff. PERM labor certification through DOL typically adds a year or more to your immigration timeline, so align your H-1B extensions accordingly.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Gap AOM openings by visa type
Searching broadly across job boards surfaces roles Gap isn't actively sponsoring. Use Migrate Mate to filter Assistant Operations Manager openings at Gap by your specific visa category so you're only applying to positions where sponsorship is confirmed.
Confirm your OPT or grace period covers the hiring timeline
Gap's AOM hiring process typically runs four to eight weeks from application to offer. If you're on F-1 OPT, verify your authorized employment end date leaves enough runway for onboarding and any USCIS filing before your status lapses.

Does Gap sponsor H-1B visas for Assistant Operations Managers?
Yes, Gap sponsors H-1B visas for Assistant Operations Manager roles. The position typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given its requirements around operational systems, data analysis, and workforce management. Your employer initiates the H-1B petition through USCIS, so confirming sponsorship willingness with the recruiter early in the process is the right first move.
How do I apply for Assistant Operations Manager jobs at Gap?
Applications go through Gap's careers portal, but roles fill quickly and not all postings flag sponsorship eligibility upfront. Migrate Mate lists Gap's Assistant Operations Manager openings filtered by visa type, which saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship isn't available. Once you identify a match, apply directly and flag your visa status in the initial recruiter conversation.
Which visa types does Gap commonly use for Assistant Operations Manager roles?
Gap sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for specialty occupation hires, E-3 visas for Australian nationals, and TN status for Canadian and Mexican citizens in qualifying categories. For longer-term pathways, Gap has also supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification for operations staff who have been with the company.
What qualifications does Gap expect for Assistant Operations Manager roles?
Gap typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, retail management, or a related field, combined with hands-on experience in retail operations or team supervision. Familiarity with inventory systems, scheduling tools, and loss prevention practices strengthens your application. For H-1B eligibility, your degree field needs to align directly with the operational responsibilities of the role.
How long does the sponsorship process take for an AOM role at Gap?
From offer acceptance to work authorization, timelines vary by visa type. H-1B cap-subject petitions follow USCIS's April filing window with an October 1 start date, though premium processing can confirm approval within 15 business days. E-3 and TN visas move faster, often resolving within a few weeks. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship adds significantly more time and runs parallel to your nonimmigrant status.
