Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Human Resources Jobs at Gap Jobs
Frame your HR credentials for specialty occupation
Gap's sponsored HR roles typically require a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or a closely related field. Document how your degree directly maps to the specific role, not just HR broadly, so your petition clearly meets USCIS specialty occupation standards.
Target corporate HR roles over field positions
Gap's visa sponsorship activity for HR concentrates in corporate functions like HR business partnering, talent acquisition, and total rewards rather than store-level HR coordinator roles. Filtering your search by corporate or headquarters locations significantly improves your chances of finding sponsored openings.
Search Gap's sponsored HR openings on Migrate Mate
Gap posts HR roles across multiple job boards, but not all listings signal sponsorship availability. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Gap's HR positions that have a verified sponsorship track record, saving time you'd otherwise spend vetting each posting manually.
Clarify OPT and CPT timelines before your interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, Gap's HR hiring cycle can run several months. Confirm your OPT expiration date before your first round and ask the recruiter directly about STEM OPT extension eligibility for your role, since most corporate HR analyst positions qualify.
Understand the LCA filing step before your offer
Before Gap can file your H-1B or E-3 petition, DOL must certify a Labor Condition Application confirming your offered wage meets the prevailing wage for your location. This step happens after your offer and typically takes seven business days, so factor it into your start date negotiation.
Prepare for PERM if targeting permanent sponsorship
Gap has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for HR professionals in specialized roles. PERM requires Gap to conduct a formal DOL-supervised recruitment process first, which can take a year or more before your I-140 petition is filed. Raising this early in negotiations sets realistic expectations for both sides.

Find Human Resources at Gap JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Gap sponsor H-1B visas for Human Resources?
Yes, Gap sponsors H-1B visas for Human Resources roles, primarily for corporate positions such as HR business partners, talent acquisition specialists, and compensation analysts. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific field directly related to the position's duties.
How do I apply for Human Resources jobs at Gap?
Apply directly through Gap's careers portal and filter by the HR function and corporate location. To surface only roles with a verified sponsorship history, use Migrate Mate to browse Gap's Human Resources openings. When you apply, address sponsorship needs in your cover letter upfront rather than waiting for a recruiter to ask, as it streamlines the screening process.
Which visa types does Gap commonly use for Human Resources roles?
Gap sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for HR roles, as well as immigrant pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term sponsorship. H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant category for corporate HR positions. Australian nationals can pursue the E-3, which has no lottery and offers a faster, more predictable path than the H-1B.
What qualifications does Gap expect for sponsored Human Resources roles?
Most sponsored HR positions at Gap require a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or a closely related discipline. Corporate roles like HR business partnering or total rewards typically expect two to five years of progressive HR experience, often with exposure to large, complex retail or consumer-facing organizations and proficiency in HRIS platforms.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Human Resources role at Gap?
Timeline depends on visa type. E-3 and TN petitions can be processed at a U.S. consulate in a matter of weeks. H-1B standard processing through USCIS currently runs three to six months, with premium processing available to reduce that to 15 business days. For Green Card pathways, the PERM labor certification alone can take 12 to 18 months before the immigrant petition is filed.
