- Lead with humility and openness, and see feedback as a tool for building trust and driving growth
- Know how to create psychological safety, set expectations, and hold people to them with warmth
- Are excited to try new things, make mistakes, and help make something that doesn't exist yet
WHAT WE'LL OFFER YOU:
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage with multiple plans to choose from
- 401k with company match
- Paid vacation and sick time

Tailor your portfolio to veterinary tech
Modern Animal runs proprietary software for appointment scheduling, membership management, and clinical workflows. Highlight projects that touch healthcare or service platforms specifically, not just general web or mobile work. Reviewers in animal care tech respond to domain-relevant examples.
Verify Modern Animal's E-Verify enrollment before applying
F-1 OPT and CPT authorization requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Confirm Modern Animal's enrollment status through the E-Verify employer search tool before you accept any offer, so there are no delays when your start date arrives.
Browse open Coder roles on Migrate Mate
Modern Animal posts Coder openings across multiple specializations. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles at Modern Animal that are actively open to visa sponsorship candidates, so you're applying to positions where your authorization status won't disqualify you at screening.
Align your visa timeline with Modern Animal's hiring cycles
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start. If you're finishing OPT, confirm whether your STEM extension gives you enough runway to bridge into an H-1B approval. Gaps between OPT expiry and H-1B start can create unlawful presence if not planned carefully.
Request written sponsorship confirmation before resigning
Pet care tech companies at Modern Animal's growth stage can shift hiring priorities quickly. Get explicit written confirmation that the role includes visa sponsorship before leaving a current position or letting OPT authorization lapse. Verbal assurances from recruiters are not binding.
Prepare credentials that meet USCIS specialty occupation standards
Coder roles at Modern Animal require demonstrating that the position requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Gather degree transcripts, translations if they're in a foreign language, and any credential evaluations early. USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation status for software roles at non-traditional tech employers.

Find Coder at Modern Animal JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Modern Animal sponsor H-1B visas for Coders?
Yes, Modern Animal has sponsored H-1B visas for technical roles including Coder positions. Because Modern Animal is a cap-subject employer, H-1B petitions are subject to the annual lottery, with a registration window each March and an October 1 start date if selected. STEM OPT candidates can bridge the gap if their extension period covers the transition.
How do I apply for Coder jobs at Modern Animal?
Coder roles at Modern Animal are posted on their careers page and on job boards that index tech roles in the animal care space. Migrate Mate is the recommended way to find and filter Modern Animal openings specifically flagged for visa sponsorship eligibility. Tailor your application to highlight experience with healthcare or membership-based software platforms, since Modern Animal's product is tightly integrated with its clinical operations.
Which visa types does Modern Animal commonly use for Coder roles?
Modern Animal has sponsored H-1B visas and accepted candidates on F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for Coder roles. TN visas are also an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals who qualify under the USMCA professional categories, which include computer systems analysts. The right visa type depends on your nationality, education, and where you are in your current status timeline.
What qualifications does Modern Animal expect for Coder positions?
Modern Animal's Coder roles typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical field to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements. Hands-on experience with modern software stacks matters, and familiarity with healthcare, veterinary, or subscription-based product environments is a differentiator. Strong candidates often demonstrate experience with full-stack development or platform integration work.
How do I manage the visa filing timeline when joining Modern Animal as a Coder?
If you're on F-1 OPT, your employer needs to initiate the H-1B registration process well before your authorization expires. USCIS opens H-1B registrations in March each year. If you're on a STEM OPT extension, you have up to 24 additional months of work authorization, which typically provides enough runway to file and receive an H-1B approval before your status lapses.
