Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Backend Engineer Jobs at Palo Alto Networks Jobs
Align your stack with Palo Alto's infrastructure
Palo Alto Networks backend roles consistently emphasize distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, and security-focused engineering. Tailor your resume to highlight experience with Go, Python, or Rust in high-throughput environments before you apply.
Target roles within sponsored product teams
Not all backend openings at Palo Alto Networks sit within the same hiring pipeline. Roles tied to Prisma Cloud and Cortex have historically absorbed sponsored engineers, so filtering open positions by those product lines sharpens your targeting.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
Palo Alto Networks sponsors multiple visa types, and the right pathway depends on your citizenship and current status. Raising your visa type early in recruiter conversations prevents mismatches that delay or derail offers at the compensation-negotiation stage.
Track LCA filings to benchmark offered salaries
Before accepting an offer, search DOL's public LCA disclosure data for Palo Alto Networks backend roles. The prevailing wage listed on certified LCAs tells you the floor the company has committed to pay, giving you a concrete reference point in salary discussions.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsorship openings
Not every job board flags which postings actively support visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to browse Backend Engineer roles at Palo Alto Networks that are tied to confirmed sponsorship activity, saving you from applying to positions that won't move forward.
Prepare for USCIS specialty occupation documentation early
H-1B petitions for backend engineering require evidence that the role demands a specific technical degree. Gather transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations if you hold a three-year credential, and a detailed employer job description before USCIS filing season opens in March.

Find Backend Engineer at Palo Alto Networks JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Palo Alto Networks sponsor H-1B visas for Backend Engineers?
Yes, Palo Alto Networks sponsors H-1B visas for Backend Engineer roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B lottery and has a consistent track record of filing petitions for engineering hires. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, you'll want to confirm your OPT expiration date against the April lottery registration window to ensure continuity of work authorization.
How do I apply for Backend Engineer jobs at Palo Alto Networks?
You can apply directly through the Palo Alto Networks careers site or find verified sponsorship-eligible openings on Migrate Mate. Focus your application on roles within product lines like Prisma Cloud or Cortex, where backend engineering demand is highest. Tailor your resume to distributed systems and security infrastructure experience, and be upfront about your visa status in the recruiter screening call.
Which visa types does Palo Alto Networks commonly use for Backend Engineer hires?
Palo Alto Networks sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Backend Engineer roles, along with employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. Australian citizens can pursue the E-3 visa, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status, which can be processed at the port of entry without a lengthy USCIS adjudication period.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Backend Engineer roles at Palo Alto Networks?
Palo Alto Networks backend roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with cloud-native development, microservices architecture, and languages such as Go or Python is expected. Security domain knowledge is a differentiator, particularly for roles within the Cortex or Prisma product lines. A three-year degree from an Australian or similar institution is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree.
How do I time my application to avoid a gap in work authorization?
If you're on F-1 OPT, file your H-1B registration before the March deadline and request a cap-gap extension if your OPT expires between April and September 30. For H-1B transfers from another employer, Palo Alto Networks can file a concurrent petition so you're covered from your start date. USCIS allows portability after an I-140 is approved for 180 days, which matters if you're pursuing an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card and change roles internally.
