Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Grader Operator
Match your credentials to engineer classification
TN sponsorship for Grader Operators routes through the Engineer occupational category, so your degree or provincial certification must demonstrate engineering-level training. A heavy equipment ticket alone won't satisfy the classification requirement.
Target civil construction and infrastructure employers
Highway departments, land development contractors, and municipal public works agencies regularly sponsor TN workers for grading roles. These sectors employ equipment operators who frequently meet TN eligibility requirements, and many have experience with work visa sponsorship across various visa categories.
Collect project-scope documentation before your port entry
Canadian citizens can get TN status at a port of entry, but CBP officers want more than an offer letter for a Grader Operator role. Bring project descriptions, site plans, or contract scopes showing engineering-level decision-making, not just equipment operation.
Search Migrate Mate to find active TN sponsorship openings
Use Migrate Mate to filter Grader Operator job listings by employers with verified TN visa sponsorship history. This cuts out postings where sponsorship is theoretical and connects you directly to companies that have filed before.
Prepare your Mexican consular appointment with required documents
Mexican professionals applying at a U.S. consulate need a support letter from the employer before scheduling your interview. Once your employer prepares this letter, you can apply at the consulate. We recommend confirming the employer has completed their support letter and understands the TN visa requirements before you schedule your appointment to ensure a smooth application process.

Find Grader Operator JobsGrader Operator TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Grader Operator role actually qualify for a TN visa?
It depends on how the role is structured. TN visas cover Engineers under USMCA, so a Grader Operator position qualifies when it requires applying engineering principles to grading design, slope calculation, or site preparation decisions. A purely operational role, where you're following someone else's grade stakes without technical judgment, is harder to support under the Engineer category and may face CBP scrutiny.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Grader Operators?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and can be processed at a port of entry the same day. H-1B requires a lottery registration in March, a cap-subject petition, and months of USCIS processing. For a Grader Operator with a qualifying engineering credential, TN is faster and more predictable. H-1B makes more sense only if you're planning to pursue a green card, since TN doesn't support dual immigrant intent.
Where can I find Grader Operator jobs that specifically offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built for this search. It filters job listings by verified TN visa sponsorship history, so you're not wasting time on postings where sponsorship is uncertain or where the employer has never filed before. General job boards don't surface that distinction, which is why Grader Operators on TN often spend weeks chasing dead ends before finding a willing sponsor.
What documents does a Canadian Grader Operator need at the port of entry?
You'll need a valid Canadian passport, a TN support letter from the employer on company letterhead, your degree or engineering credentials, and documentation describing the role's technical scope. CBP officers reviewing a Grader Operator TN want evidence that the job requires engineering-level judgment, not just equipment hours. Project contracts, site plans, or a detailed job description showing grade design responsibilities strengthen the file.
Can a Mexican Grader Operator get TN status through consular processing?
Yes, but the process is longer. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate rather than a port of entry, and the employer must prepare a detailed support letter demonstrating the role qualifies for TN status. The USMCA allocates a separate annual quota for Mexican TN professionals, which is distinct from the Canadian process. Scheduling a consular appointment early matters, since wait times at some posts can add several weeks to the timeline.
