INTRODUCTION
The Verma Laboratory in the Department of Pathology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to join a dynamic, fully funded research program investigating how environmental exposures and inflammation drive hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction, clonal hematopoiesis, and the development of blood and prostate cancers. Our research bridges basic, translational, and clinical studies to uncover mechanisms linking inflammation, DNA damage, and stem cell aging to cancer initiation and progression. Using murine and humanized models, human patient samples, DNA methylation seq, single-cell multiomics (CITE-seq), advanced flow cytometry, proteomics, and mechanistic studies, we aim to identify therapeutic targets within inflammatory pathways. We are also testing novel investigational drugs targeting inflammatory pathways in preclinical models and early-phase clinical trials, providing an exceptional opportunity for translational impact.

- Analyze next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, including:
- Bulk DNA-seq and RNA-seq
- Whole DNA methylation seq
- Single-cell RNA-seq
- Spatial transcriptomics
- Develop computational and statistical methods for multi-omic and single-cell data
- Integrate diverse molecular data to study tumor evolution and therapeutic response
- Collaborate with clinicians and basic scientists
- Investigate mechanisms of tumor heterogeneity and resistance
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students and rotation trainees
- Present research at scientific conferences and contribute to peer-reviewed publications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, computer science, or related field

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Research And Development Engineer
Align your credentials to R&D engineering
TN visa classification requires a bachelor's degree in engineering directly related to your R&D role. A mechanical engineering degree supporting a materials research position clears this bar. A business degree does not, even if you've led engineering teams.
Target employers with active R&D programs
Focus your search on companies with recent visa filings for engineer roles, which signals existing sponsorship infrastructure and experience with work visa processes. Pharmaceutical, aerospace, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing firms run structured R&D functions and are accustomed to sponsoring professional engineers through various visa pathways.
Search for R&D roles using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Research and Development Engineer positions by TN visa sponsorship. It surfaces employers already set up to sponsor Canadian and Mexican professionals, cutting the research time between job search and a qualifying offer.
Clarify your role scope before the border
For Canadian citizens entering at a port of entry, CBP officers assess TN eligibility on the spot. Bring a detailed offer letter that specifies your R&D duties, degree requirement, and project scope. Vague job titles like 'engineer' without R&D context create unnecessary adjudication risk.
Negotiate employer support for the I-129 filing
If your employer prefers a change-of-status or consular route requiring Form I-129, confirm upfront who covers the filing and whether premium processing is included. USCIS processes I-129 petitions under standard timelines that can run several months without premium processing.
Plan around Mexican TN processing timelines
Mexican citizens cannot use port-of-entry TN processing and must schedule a consular interview in Mexico. Appointment availability varies significantly by consulate and season, so start the process well before your target start date to avoid gaps between offer acceptance and your entry date.
Research And Development Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Research and Development Engineer role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, Research and Development Engineer positions qualify under the TN visa's Engineer category when your degree is in an engineering discipline directly related to the R&D work. The role must involve technical engineering functions such as applied research, prototype development, or process innovation, not general project management or administrative oversight of engineering teams.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for R&D engineers?
TN has no annual cap and no lottery for Canadian citizens, so you can start as soon as an employer extends a qualifying offer and your application is approved. H-1B visa requires surviving an annual lottery with a roughly 25% selection rate. For Mexican citizens, TN has a separate allocation, but it still avoids the H-1B lottery entirely, making TN a more predictable path for R&D engineers from both countries.
What documentation does an R&D engineer need for TN approval?
You need a signed offer letter that specifies your engineering duties, confirms the role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, and states your employment terms. You'll also need your original degree certificate or transcripts and a valid passport. If your degree is from a non-Canadian or non-Mexican institution, having a credential evaluation prepared in advance strengthens your application.
Where can I find R&D engineering jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for this search. It filters Research and Development Engineer positions by TN visa sponsorship, connecting Canadian and Mexican professionals with employers already set up to support the process. Searching a general job board often surfaces roles where sponsorship willingness is unclear, which wastes time during offer and negotiation stages.
Can I switch R&D employers while on a TN visa?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to your current employer. You cannot begin work for a new employer until a new TN authorization is in place. Canadian citizens can apply at a port of entry with a new offer letter before starting the new role. Mexican citizens must go through consular processing. There is no grace period that authorizes you to work during the transition.
