Overview
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Associate Director of Business Systems & Data Analysis is a vital member of the leadership team in Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) Operations. Responsible for the management of applications that support critical business processes, as well leading complex projects which meet major divisional and enterprise priorities.
This position leads a team that is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the technology and data management systems used to support international accreditation and certification. This team will work collaboratively with Information Technology (IT) and other divisions across the Enterprise to ensure that the portfolio of applications and their associated business processes meet operational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Manages a team of accreditation business analysts. Oversees recruitment and onboarding, evaluates staff performance, establishes individual staff goals, manages resource assignment and allocation to maximize business needs; as needed, provides hands-on staff training.
- Manages and provides oversight to a growing portfolio of applications that supports all JCIA customers across the continuum of the accreditation/certification processes (pre-survey, post-survey and intracycle processes), for the full application lifecycle (implementation, enhancements, on-going support), including:
- Responsibility for managing simultaneous, high-priority application/project timelines and prioritizing application changes to best support the company’s mission and vision.
- Management of resource allocations, including coordination with IT management and other key stakeholders.
- Oversight of application development, critical application downtime support; also facilitates immediate resolution of application issues to ensure business continuity, manages risk mitigation and customer communication.
- Creation of business testing plan, execution of testing and final sign-off on deliverables.
- Manages support of technology upgrades to critical business applications, including database migrations, cloud readiness, security upgrades, disaster recovery planning, etc.
- As needed, support, review and approve official content in the non-scoring chapters of the accreditation/certification manual, for all programs.
- Mentors Business Analysts on project and application lifecycle, business processes and policies, application functionality and best practices, as well as the critical and creative thinking to recognize and support potential enterprise-level impacts.
- Leads partnerships with cross-enterprise key stakeholders to ensure alignment with enterprise initiatives and directives, often presenting to and facilitating critical conversations with senior leaders.
- Serves as Subject Matter Expert on the full portfolio of business applications, understanding the business requirements and integration of processes and policies, as well as new and emerging technologies to support business need and industry standards, also responsible for having a strong understanding of the underlying technical processes that support each system.
- Leads new product development and other Enterprise Strategic projects initiatives within the business applications.
- Serves as Data Steward for the portfolio of applications that this position oversees; responsible for: managing JCIA data assets, adherence to appropriate policies and processes around data (i.e., GDPR, Data Governance, Records Retention); representing JCIA in Enterprise Information Management Committee; also responsible for analyzing data for internal analysis purposes (i.e., volume trends for projections) and interpreting data to inform secondary uses of data assets.
- Leads application redesigns and new application development, including multi-year, multi-million-dollar projects. Responsible for:
- Defining goals and objectives; includes assessing emerging technologies for integration into key business processes; as needed, drafts business case.
- Managing Project activities: resource planning and allocation, risk analysis and mitigation; approving Minimum Viable Product (MVP); managing Voice of Customer (VOC), managing stakeholder expectations; oversees progress through all project phases (Inception, requirements-building, development, end user testing, communication/training, implementation, post-launch stabilization and support); as needed, assists with drafting SOWs for work with external vendors.
- Assists Executive Director with budget management activities, including budget planning, forecasting/projections, vendor approvals, and requisitions for budgeted and unbudgeted work.
- Oversees vendor management activities, such as managing contracts/SOWs, approving invoices, monitoring performance of vendors, managing inventory/supplies (i.e., certificates), and managing change orders.
Serves as back-up to the Executive Director, JCIA.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor's degree required. Master’s preferred.
- 5 to 7 years’ experience with an emphasis in business operations, data analysis, business/technology systems; knowledge of Joint Commission policies and processes preferred.
- 1 to 2 years previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Certification in one or more project management methodologies, such as Six Sigma or Project Management Professional (PMP), is preferred.
- Strong quantitative skills and demonstrated experience in performing detailed data analysis in efficient and scalable ways. Intermediate data analysis skills, with tools such as Excel, BI, is preferred.
- Superior written and oral communication skills. Demonstrates a combination of business knowledge and technical expertise with strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
- Significant project management experience, including the ability to manage multi-faceted projects with complex deliverables and aggressive deadlines.
- Experience with Agile methodology in software development and IT development lifecycle, is preferred.
- Must occasionally be available during evening and weekend hours to support application promotions.
COMPENSATION
- Min: USD $97,000.00/year
- Max: USD $115,000.00/year
