Frame your modeling skills for BNPL risk
Affirm's risk analysts work specifically on buy-now-pay-later credit models, not traditional revolving credit. Tailor your resume to highlight loss forecasting, vintage analysis, or credit scorecard development rather than generic banking risk experience.
Confirm your OPT STEM extension eligibility early
Credit risk and financial engineering roles often qualify under STEM OPT if your degree is in statistics, applied math, or a related CIP code. Verify your degree classification with your DSO before accepting an offer, since Affirm typically expects a gap-free start date.
Target roles that align with H-1B specialty occupation criteria
Affirm's Credit Risk Analyst postings routinely require a bachelor's or higher in a quantitative discipline. This degree-job field alignment is exactly what USCIS evaluates for specialty occupation approval, so document that connection explicitly in your petition materials.
Ask about sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Affirm sponsors multiple visa categories for risk roles, but internal policies on TN versus H-1B routing can differ by team. Clarify with the recruiter whether your offer supports H-1B filing, PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, or both, before signing.
Search Affirm Credit Risk Analyst openings through Migrate Mate
Filter by visa type to surface Affirm postings confirmed for sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces roles by sponsorship category, so you can distinguish H-1B-eligible positions from OPT-only listings before you invest time applying.
Prepare a compliance-aware portfolio before interviews
Affirm operates under CFPB oversight, so analysts who demonstrate familiarity with fair lending requirements and model risk governance stand out. Document any experience with adverse action notices, Regulation B, or model validation in your interview preparation.

Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Credit Risk Analysts?
Yes. Affirm has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for quantitative and analytical roles, including Credit Risk Analysts. Because this role typically requires a degree in a specific field like statistics, mathematics, or economics, it generally satisfies the USCIS specialty occupation standard. Sponsorship availability can vary by team and hiring cycle, so confirm directly with your recruiter during the offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Credit Risk Analyst roles at Affirm?
H-1B is the most common pathway for Credit Risk Analysts at Affirm, particularly for candidates transitioning off F-1 OPT or STEM OPT. Affirm also supports TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying analytical roles, and sponsors PERM-based Green Card filings for longer-tenured employees. F-1 CPT is occasionally used for internship or co-op Credit Risk positions.
How do I apply for Credit Risk Analyst jobs at Affirm?
You can browse and apply for Credit Risk Analyst openings at Affirm directly through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles filtered by visa sponsorship type so you can identify positions confirmed for H-1B or other sponsorship before applying. Affirm's risk team interviews typically involve a SQL or Python technical screen, a credit case study, and a behavioral round with a hiring manager from the risk or data science org.
What qualifications does Affirm look for in Credit Risk Analyst candidates?
Affirm's Credit Risk Analyst roles typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, mathematics, or financial engineering. Hands-on experience with credit loss modeling, cohort analysis, or machine learning-based underwriting is strongly preferred. Familiarity with SQL, Python, or R is expected, and experience in consumer lending or fintech is a practical differentiator over traditional bank backgrounds.
How do I time my H-1B application if I'm on OPT and targeting Affirm?
H-1B cap filings open in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT and receive an Affirm offer, your employer must file your H-1B petition during the March registration window. STEM OPT can extend your work authorization up to 36 months beyond your initial OPT period, giving you up to three filing windows if needed. Coordinate your offer timing and OPT expiration date with Affirm's HR team well in advance.
