Verify Your Credential Evaluation Early
Foreign OT degrees must be evaluated by NBCOT before you can sit for the NCBOT exam. Start this process months before applying, since delays in credential recognition are the most common reason international OT candidates lose offers at U.S. health systems like Benefis.
Target Benefis Rehab and Outpatient Openings Directly
Benefis operates multiple outpatient and inpatient rehab units across the Great Falls region. Roles in these settings tend to have longer-term staffing needs, which makes them more likely to justify the time and cost of visa sponsorship compared to short-term contract positions.
Confirm Sponsorship Scope Before Accepting an Offer
Benefis sponsors across several visa categories, but not every hiring manager controls which type applies to your situation. During the offer stage, ask HR directly whether they'll file for H-1B, TN, or start a PERM-based Green Card process, so there are no surprises after you accept.
Understand the H-1B Cap and Your OPT Timeline
If you're on F-1 OPT, your work authorization window is limited. H-1B filings are subject to the annual cap with a lottery in March, so if you miss that cycle, you may need a cap-exempt bridge or a gap-year plan. Align your Benefis application timeline with USCIS registration windows.
Browse Verified OT Openings Through Migrate Mate
Finding health systems that actually sponsor visas for OTs takes more than a general job board search. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Benefis Health System OT roles that are open to sponsored candidates, so you're applying where sponsorship is already on the table.
Request a TN Letter That Matches Your Specialty
If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, the TN visa is a faster path than H-1B and has no cap. Benefis HR will need to provide a support letter specifying your OT role and qualifications. The DOL's TN occupational list includes physical and occupational therapists, so confirm the exact classification before the letter is drafted.

Find OT at Benefis Health System JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Benefis Health System sponsor H-1B visas for OTs?
Yes, Benefis Health System has sponsored H-1B visas for occupational therapy roles. The H-1B is a common path for international OTs in the U.S. because OT qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Keep in mind that H-1B is subject to an annual lottery, so timing your application around the USCIS registration window each spring matters.
How do I apply for OT jobs at Benefis Health System?
You can apply directly through the Benefis Health System careers portal on their website, where OT openings across their Great Falls facilities are listed. Migrate Mate also aggregates Benefis OT roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which can save time if you need to confirm a position supports international candidates before investing in a full application.
Which visa types does Benefis Health System commonly use for OT roles?
Benefis sponsors across several categories depending on your background and timeline. H-1B is the most widely used for degree-holding OTs. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals and is faster with no lottery. F-1 OPT and CPT cover students or recent graduates in OT programs. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is also on the table for longer-term hires.
What qualifications does Benefis Health System expect for sponsored OT positions?
Benefis typically requires a master's degree in occupational therapy, which is now the entry-level standard in the U.S., along with NBCOT certification and a valid Montana state OT license or eligibility. For international applicants, a credential evaluation confirming your degree is equivalent to a U.S. master's or bachelor's level program is usually required before an offer is finalized.
How long does the sponsorship process take for an OT role at Benefis?
Timeline varies by visa type. TN status can be obtained at a port of entry in a matter of days once the employer letter is ready. H-1B sponsorship tied to the annual lottery means a wait of several months from registration in March to October 1 start dates. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship runs longer, often one to two years from initial filing through USCIS approval.
