INTRODUCTION
We’re not just building better tech. We’re rewriting how data moves and what the world can do with it. With Confluent, data doesn’t sit still. Our platform puts information in motion, streaming in near real-time so companies can react faster, build smarter, and deliver experiences as dynamic as the world around them. It takes a certain kind of person to join this team. Those who ask hard questions, give honest feedback, and show up for each other. No egos, no solo acts. Just smart, curious humans pushing toward something bigger, together. One Confluent. One Team. One Data Streaming Platform.
This is a role leading our Kora Global team, the group behind Confluent’s multi-region replication stack for Confluent Cloud. That includes technologies like Cluster Linking and Multi-Region Clusters, which are the backbone for customers who need disaster recovery, global data sharing, and aggregation across regions, clouds, and continents. You would own the vision and multi-year roadmap for Kora Global, deciding how we evolve our replication capabilities, improve reliability and performance, and support new DR and global footprint use cases. You’d lead and grow a team of distributed systems engineers, responsible not just for building features but also for operating a large fleet of mission-critical clusters across AWS, GCP, and Azure. Operational excellence is a huge part of the job: you'll be accountable for meeting and exceeding SLAs for some of our most critical services, driving root cause analyses, and implementing long-term fixes that improve security, reliability, and performance. You’d also work closely with product management and other engineering leaders across Kafka/Kora, networking, and control plane to deliver cross-team initiatives - everything from improved DR experiences to new multi-region capabilities for our largest customers.
What Success Looks Like In 6–12 Months
- A clear multi-year strategy and technical roadmap for Kora Global is defined, socialized, and actively being executed.
- The team has delivered at least one major cross-team initiative that measurably improves reliability, performance, scalability, or multi-tenancy of multi-region replication.
- SLA metrics for Kora Global services (availability, RPO/RTO, latency) are stable or improving for mission-critical cloud services.
- The team is fully staffed and high-performing, with clear expectations, strong coaching, and a high bar on talent and performance.
- Demonstrated operational excellence: strong on-call practices, high-quality RCAs, and visible reduction in repeat incidents and toil.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems, especially Kafka or similar streaming platforms.
- Strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation, and orchestration.
- Proficiency in designing, migrating, and operating control plane APIs and services.
- Familiarity with security best practices (RBAC, mTLS, S2S).
- Track record of driving reliability, operational excellence, and incident response in production environments.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and operations teams.
WHY IT MATTERS (BUSINESS IMPACT)
- Kora Orchestration is central to ensuring Confluent Cloud’s Kafka platform is reliable, scalable, and secure for enterprise customers.
- The team’s work directly impacts customer experience, operational efficiency, and the ability to deliver new features at scale.
- By modernizing orchestration and control plane components, the team reduces operational toil, accelerates incident recovery, and supports strategic business continuity and security initiatives.

Align your credentials with cloud security frameworks
Confluent's platform runs on Kafka and cloud-native infrastructure, so certifications like AWS Security Specialty or CISSP with cloud architecture exposure directly strengthen your candidacy before you apply.
Target roles requiring data streaming security expertise
Confluent's open Cybersecurity positions often sit at the intersection of network security and distributed systems. Framing your experience around securing event-driven architectures positions you as a specialized fit, not a generalist.
Confirm your visa category matches the role level
Confluent sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT for Cybersecurity roles, but the right category depends on your nationality and career stage. TN is available same-day at the border for Canadians and Mexicans; H-1B requires planning around the April lottery window.
Time your application around the H-1B registration window
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting Confluent on H-1B, have your application materials and employer conversations finalized before February so sponsorship can be initiated without delays.
Ask about PERM sponsorship during offer negotiations
For Cybersecurity roles that involve proprietary systems knowledge, some technology companies initiate PERM-based Green Card sponsorship after a defined tenure. Clarify Confluent's internal policy on EB-2 or EB-3 PERM timelines before you sign, not after.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Confluent's open Cybersecurity roles
Searching for visa-sponsoring employers in Cybersecurity is time-consuming without the right tool. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for Confluent's open roles by visa type, so you can identify and apply to positions that match your sponsorship situation.

Find Cybersecurity at Confluent JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Confluent sponsor H-1B visas for Cybersecurity roles?
Yes, Confluent sponsors H-1B visas for Cybersecurity positions. Because H-1B requires a specialty occupation with a directly related bachelor's degree or higher, roles in security engineering, cloud security architecture, and threat intelligence at Confluent typically qualify. Sponsorship is initiated by the employer after an offer is extended, so raise the topic during the offer stage.
How do I apply for Cybersecurity jobs at Confluent?
You can browse and apply for Confluent's open Cybersecurity roles directly through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters Confluent's listings by visa sponsorship eligibility. Tailor your application to emphasize experience with cloud-native security, distributed systems, or data infrastructure protection, since those align closely with Confluent's platform and security posture.
Which visa types does Confluent commonly sponsor for Cybersecurity professionals?
Confluent sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, TN, and employment-based Green Cards including EB-2 and EB-3 for Cybersecurity roles. F-1 OPT is typically the entry point for recent graduates, while H-1B is the primary long-term pathway. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations without a lottery requirement.
What qualifications does Confluent expect for Cybersecurity roles?
Confluent's Cybersecurity openings generally require a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, combined with hands-on experience in cloud security, vulnerability management, or security operations. Familiarity with Kafka, AWS, GCP, or Azure security tooling is a practical differentiator given Confluent's infrastructure. Industry certifications like CISSP, CEH, or cloud security credentials strengthen your profile.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Cybersecurity role at Confluent?
Timeline depends on the visa type. F-1 OPT can begin within weeks of an offer. TN for Canadians is often processed at the border on the same day. H-1B requires USCIS lottery registration in March and employment start no earlier than October 1, meaning the full cycle from offer to authorization can span six months or more. PERM-based Green Card processing typically takes one to three years beyond that.
