Align Your Credentials to Specialty Occupation Standards
Laboratory Manager roles at Dolby require a directly related degree in audio engineering, electrical engineering, or a physical science. Before applying, confirm your transcript shows coursework that maps to the role, not just a general science background.
Target Dolby's Hardware and Perceptual Research Teams
Dolby's most active Laboratory Manager openings sit within perceptual coding, hardware validation, and immersive audio research. Framing your experience around measurement systems, test protocol design, or psychoacoustics research puts you in front of the hiring managers most likely to sponsor.
Browse Open Roles Using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Laboratory Manager openings at Dolby Laboratories by visa type, so you can identify which roles are actively structured for sponsorship before investing time in a full application.
Clarify OPT Timing Before Your First Interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, calculate your remaining authorization window before outreach. Dolby's hiring cycles for laboratory roles can run eight to twelve weeks, and arriving at offer stage with under 90 days of OPT remaining complicates the employer's filing timeline.
Understand the PERM Process for Lab-Level Roles
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, Dolby must complete a DOL PERM labor market test before filing your immigrant petition. Laboratory Manager roles with specialized equipment or proprietary system requirements can support a narrower job description, which matters for how the employer drafts the PERM application.
Request a TN Classification Assessment if You're Canadian or Mexican
TN status is available for qualifying science and engineering roles and does not require an I-129 petition filed months in advance. Confirm with Dolby's HR team early whether your Laboratory Manager title and duties meet the TN scientist or engineer category criteria under USMCA.

Find Laboratory Manager at Dolby Laboratories JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Dolby Laboratories sponsor H-1B visas for Laboratory Managers?
Yes, Dolby Laboratories sponsors H-1B visas for Laboratory Manager roles. The position qualifies as a specialty occupation because it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related technical field, such as electrical engineering, audio science, or a physical science discipline. Dolby has sponsored H-1B petitions across its research and engineering functions, and Laboratory Manager roles fall within that pattern.
Which visa types does Dolby Laboratories commonly use for Laboratory Manager roles?
Dolby sponsors H-1B visas for most Laboratory Manager hires. For candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 status, F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported during transitional periods. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN classification depending on how the role is structured. For longer-term pathways, Dolby has filed EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions through the PERM labor certification process for laboratory-level positions.
What qualifications does Dolby Laboratories expect for Laboratory Manager positions?
Dolby's Laboratory Manager roles typically require a bachelor's degree at minimum in electrical engineering, audio engineering, acoustics, or a related physical science field. Hands-on experience managing test environments, calibration workflows, or hardware validation labs is expected. Roles within Dolby's perceptual research or immersive audio divisions may also require familiarity with psychoacoustic measurement methods or proprietary signal processing tools.
How do I apply for Laboratory Manager jobs at Dolby Laboratories?
You can find and apply for Laboratory Manager openings at Dolby Laboratories directly through their careers site. To find roles specifically structured for visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate to filter Dolby listings by visa type. When you apply, tailor your resume to reflect laboratory operations experience that aligns with Dolby's research or hardware engineering divisions, as those teams drive the majority of Laboratory Manager hiring.
How do I plan my timeline if I need Dolby Laboratories to file an H-1B for me?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS accepting registrations in March for an October 1 start date. If Dolby selects you after the registration window closes, your start date will shift to the following fiscal year. To avoid a gap in work authorization, confirm your current status and any OPT or grace period expiration with Dolby's immigration team as early as the offer stage.
