Job Roles at Amgen
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Amgen Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target research and scientific roles first
Amgen's Green Card sponsorship concentrates heavily in scientific and research functions. Roles in biologics research, clinical development, and regulatory affairs are where sponsorship is most consistently offered, so aligning your application to these areas improves your chances significantly.
Understand Amgen's PERM-heavy sponsorship approach
Most Amgen Green Card cases go through the PERM labor certification route under EB-2 or EB-3. Knowing this process before your first HR conversation lets you ask informed questions and signals that you're a low-friction candidate to onboard and sponsor.
Raise Green Card intent early but professionally
With large biotech employers like Amgen, immigration support is often part of standard compensation planning. Asking about Green Card sponsorship during the offer negotiation stage, rather than after signing, gives both sides time to align on timeline and category.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified Amgen openings
Not every Amgen job listing states sponsorship eligibility upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find Amgen roles where Green Card support is a genuine part of the offer, not an assumption.
Position yourself for EB-2 if your credentials qualify
Amgen employs many candidates with advanced degrees in life sciences, engineering, and related fields. If you hold a master's or PhD, make sure your resume and cover letter clearly reflect the advanced degree requirements that support an EB-2 petition category.
Build a relationship with Amgen's internal immigration team
Large science and research employers like Amgen typically have dedicated immigration coordinators or HR partners who manage sponsorship cases. Building rapport with this team early in your tenure can help your case move through internal approval processes more smoothly.

Does Amgen sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Amgen sponsors Green Card visas and is one of the more active Green Card sponsors in the U.S. biotech and life sciences industry. Sponsorship is most common for employees in scientific, research, and technical roles, and typically proceeds through the PERM labor certification process under the EB-2 or EB-3 preference categories.
Which roles and departments at Amgen are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Amgen is most consistently offered in research and development, clinical sciences, regulatory affairs, biostatistics, and process development. Roles requiring specialized scientific expertise, particularly those tied to drug discovery or biologics manufacturing, tend to have the strongest case for employer-sponsored permanent residency given the degree requirements and niche skill sets involved.
How does the Green Card application process work at Amgen?
Amgen typically initiates the PERM labor certification process through the Department of Labor, which requires the employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. Once PERM is certified, Amgen files an I-140 immigrant petition on your behalf. If you're in a preference category with an available visa number, adjustment of status follows. Amgen's immigration team manages most of this process directly.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Amgen?
The timeline depends on your country of birth and preference category. The PERM and I-140 stages typically take one to two years combined. For applicants born in countries without significant visa backlogs, adjustment of status can follow relatively quickly. Applicants born in India or China may face multi-year or decade-long waits due to per-country annual limits, regardless of how efficiently Amgen processes the case.
How do I improve my chances of getting Green Card sponsorship at Amgen?
Joining Amgen in a role that clearly requires a specialized degree is the strongest foundation, as this supports an EB-2 petition and strengthens the PERM audit trail. Demonstrating long-term commitment to Amgen's research mission during interviews also matters. To find current Amgen openings where Green Card sponsorship is a realistic part of the package, Migrate Mate lets you search by verified sponsorship history rather than relying on vague job listing language.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Amgen?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
