INTRODUCTION
At Keros, our mission is to deliver significant clinical benefit to a wide range of patients with disorders that are linked to dysfunctional signaling of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-ß) family of proteins. With a focus on developing differentiated product candidates that are designed to alter TGF-β signaling, we aim to target the pathways critical for the growth, repair and maintenance of blood cells and a number of tissues, including bone, skeletal muscle, adipose and heart tissue. We believe our product candidates have the potential to unlock the full therapeutic benefits of modulating the TGF-β superfamily and provide disease-modifying benefit to patients.

Keros is a leader in developing novel therapies targeting transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-ß) family signaling pathways, which regulate the health of blood, muscle, bone and other tissues. The successful candidate will help advance our innovative pipeline by contributing to scientific studies focusing on kidney fibrosis in chronic kidney diseases (CKD). The candidate will actively contribute to impactful preclinical research by developing and optimizing models of kidney fibrosis and evaluating the therapeutic potential of novel treatments modulating the TGF- ß pathway. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in in vivo model development, experimental design and data analysis and be able to communicate cross-functionally and present at multidisciplinary program teams.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, optimize and execute mouse models of kidney fibrosis, such as unilateral ureteral obstruction and 5/6 nephrectomy.
- Independently design and execute translatable in vivo experiments to generate pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles and evaluate drug efficacy.
- Utilize a broad array of laboratory techniques to identify, validate and evaluate translatable disease relevant biomarkers.
- Analyze and interpret data within the broader context of CKD and inform next steps in the drug discovery/development process.
- Prepare and present detailed reports, publications, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- External outreach to the broader scientific community (e.g., academic laboratories and contract research organizations) to build professional relationships and collaborations and expand our research capabilities.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements and incorporate new knowledge into ongoing projects.
- Draft IACUC protocols and amendments and maintain the highest standards of animal welfare.
- Contribute to the preparation of study reports, regulatory filings and project presentations.
- Maintain excellent written documentation of completed experiments (e.g., electronic lab notebook and study reports).
CORE COMPETENCIES (REQUIRED SKILLS)
- Knowledge of chronic kidney disease, translatable disease models and clinically relevant biomarkers.
- Excellent animal handling skills, including dosing using multiple routes of administration, biological sample and tissue collection and aseptic surgery techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including data and statistical analysis.
- Ability to lead complex research projects and drive them to completion.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Effective communication skills, with experience in writing scientific publications and presenting data internally and externally.
- Highly collaborative working style and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Ability to independently lead research projects and drive successful outcomes.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture and in vitro model development (e.g., complex cellular models).
- Extensive knowledge of TGF-β signaling pathways.
- Experience managing/mentoring junior associates.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. in Biology or a related field with 2+ years of experience, a Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.

Does Keros Therapeutics sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Keros Therapeutics sponsors H-1B visas. As a clinical-stage biotechnology company, Keros hires specialized scientific and clinical talent where international candidates are common. While Keros is not among the highest-volume sponsors in the industry, it does have a track record of H-1B sponsorship, particularly for roles in research and clinical development.
What visa types does Keros Therapeutics sponsor?
Keros Therapeutics sponsors H-1B visas, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas. This covers the most common pathways for international candidates in biotechnology, including recent graduates on OPT and Canadian or Mexican nationals qualifying under USMCA professional categories. Green Card sponsorship has not been a consistent part of their track record to date.
Which departments or roles at Keros Therapeutics are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Keros Therapeutics tends to align with its core scientific mission in hematology and musculoskeletal disease. Roles in research biology, translational medicine, clinical operations, biostatistics, and regulatory affairs are the most likely candidates for sponsorship. Business operations and administrative functions are less commonly associated with visa sponsorship at clinical-stage biotechs of this size.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at Keros Therapeutics?
Migrate Mate is the most efficient way to find sponsored roles at companies like Keros Therapeutics. It surfaces employers with verified sponsorship history, so you can confirm Keros's track record and browse current openings filtered by visa type, without sifting through listings that don't sponsor. Check regularly, as clinical-stage biotechs open roles in concentrated bursts tied to trial progression.
How do I approach the application process at Keros Therapeutics as a visa-sponsored candidate?
Start by confirming that Keros sponsors your specific visa category, then apply directly with a resume tailored to their therapeutic focus areas. Mention your visa status and expected authorization timeline early, ideally in your cover letter. For F-1 OPT candidates, account for the time needed between an offer and an H-1B filing. Smaller biotechs like Keros often run lean hiring processes, so responsiveness and preparation matter.
