About us
At LangChain, our mission is to make intelligent agents ubiquitous. We build the foundation for agent engineering in the real world, helping developers move from prototypes to production-ready AI agents that teams can rely on. We began as widely adopted open-source tools and have grown to also offer a platform for building, evaluating, deploying, and operating agents at scale. Today, LangChain, LangGraph, LangSmith, and Agent Builder are used by teams shipping real AI products across startups and large enterprises. Millions of developers trust LangChain to power AI teams at companies like Replit, Clay, Coinbase, Workday, Lyft, Cloudflare, Harvey, Rippling, Vanta, and 35% of the Fortune 500. With $125M raised at Series B from IVP, Sequoia, Benchmark, CapitalG, and Sapphire Ventures, we’re at a stage where we’re continuing to develop new products, growth is accelerating, and all team members have meaningful impact on what we build and how we work together. LangChain is a place where your contributions can shape how this technology shows up in the real world.
About The Team
The Deployed Engineering team works directly with companies building and running AI agents in production, helping turn ideas and prototypes into systems teams can rely on. This is a hands-on, highly technical team that partners closely with customer engineers across the full lifecycle, from pre-sales evaluations to post-deployment advisory work. The focus is on achieving the technical win, co-designing agent architectures, and helping customers operate agents reliably at scale using the LangChain suite. Deployed Engineers sit at the intersection of engineering, product, and go-to-market, shaping how LangChain is adopted in the field and feeding real-world insights back into the platform.
About The Role
The Deployed Engineer…You’ll work on some of the hardest problems in applied AI — not demos, not research, but systems that real teams depend on in production. The feedback loop is fast, the impact is visible, and the work you do directly shapes how AI agents are built in the real world.
Location(s)
West: San Francisco, Pacific Northwest, Southern California
Central: Austin, Chicago, Denver
East: New York, Atlanta
EMEA: London, Amsterdam
What You’ll Do
- Co-architect and co-build production AI agents with customer engineering teams
- Own the technical win in pre-sales by designing POCs, answering deep technical questions, and guiding evaluations
- Help customers deploy and operate agent-based applications such as conversational agents, research agents, and multi-step workflows
- Advise customers post-sale on architecture, best practices, and roadmap-level decisions
- Run technical demos, trainings, and workshops for developer audiences
- Surface field feedback and contribute reusable patterns, cookbooks, and example code that scale across customers
- Occasionally contribute code upstream when it meaningfully improves customer outcomes
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years in a relevant technical role (software engineering, customer engineering, solutions engineering, founding/product engineering), ideally in a startup or scale-up
- Strong Python, JavaScript and systems fundamentals
- Have designed agent-based or LLM-powered applications beyond simple API calls, including multi-step workflows, orchestration, and failure handling
- Are comfortable working directly with customers during POCs, architecture reviews, and technical evaluations
- Can explain technical tradeoffs clearly and build trust with developer audiences
- Take responsibility for outcomes, not just recommendations
- Have a bias toward action and enjoy figuring things out as you go
- Are excited about operating AI agents in production, not just building demos
Nice to Have’s:
- You’ve deployed AI agents in production, especially using LangChain, LangGraph, or similar frameworks
- Worked with LLM evaluation, observability, or guardrails
- Have experience with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), containers, and basic Kubernetes concepts
- Have shipped and operated production software and are comfortable owning systems under real-world constraints
Compensation & Benefits
We offer competitive compensation that includes base salary, variable compensation for relevant roles, meaningful equity, benefits, and perks. Benefits include things like medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible vacation, a 401(k) plan, and life insurance. Actual compensation and offerings will vary based on role, level, and location. Team members in the EU, UK, and APAC receive locally competitive benefits aligned with regional norms and regulations.
Annual OTE range: $150,000–$250,000 USD

Build a portfolio around LangChain's core product
Pre Sales engineers at LangChain are expected to demo LangSmith and LangGraph to enterprise buyers. Before applying, build and document a proof-of-concept project using these tools so you can speak fluently to the stack in technical interviews.
Get your LCA timing right before accepting
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. Understand this step happens before your start date so you can plan your notice period or current status end date without creating a gap.
Frame your visa status early in conversations
Technical Pre Sales candidates at AI infrastructure companies often move fast through hiring pipelines. Disclose your visa type and whether you need new sponsorship or a transfer in your first recruiter screen to avoid offer-stage delays caused by legal review cycles.
Target open roles through Migrate Mate's job board
LangChain posts Technical Pre Sales openings that explicitly support visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified LangChain listings so you're only spending time on roles where H-1B and E-3 sponsorship is already confirmed.
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
USCIS scrutinizes Technical Pre Sales petitions because the role spans sales and engineering. Make sure your degree field and job description both anchor to a specific technical discipline, such as computer science or electrical engineering, rather than a general business or communications background.
Use cap-exempt timing if you qualify
If you're transferring an existing H-1B from another employer, LangChain can file a portability petition and you can start working as soon as USCIS receives it. This bypasses the April lottery window and removes a six-to-twelve-month wait from your timeline.

Does LangChain sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Pre Saless?
Yes, LangChain sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Pre Sales roles. The company has an established pattern of supporting work visa filings for technical functions, which includes pre-sales engineering positions. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, LangChain can file a transfer petition, letting you start work once USCIS receives the filing rather than waiting for approval.
How do I apply for Technical Pre Sales jobs at LangChain?
Applications go through LangChain's careers page. For visa-sponsored roles specifically, Migrate Mate surfaces verified LangChain Technical Pre Sales openings where sponsorship is confirmed, which removes the guesswork of filtering through listings that don't support work authorization. Prepare a portfolio demonstrating hands-on experience with LLM frameworks and enterprise solution design before submitting.
Which visa types does LangChain commonly use for Technical Pre Sales roles?
LangChain sponsors both H-1B and E-3 visas for Technical Pre Sales positions. The H-1B is the most broadly available and requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a specialty field. The E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens and offers a simpler process with no lottery. Both require a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL before the petition is filed.
What qualifications does LangChain expect for Technical Pre Sales candidates?
LangChain typically looks for candidates who combine a computer science or engineering background with direct experience in enterprise software sales cycles. Hands-on familiarity with LangChain's own product suite, including LangSmith for observability and LangGraph for agent orchestration, is a strong differentiator. Prior experience in a solutions engineering or pre-sales capacity at an AI or developer tooling company carries significant weight.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Technical Pre Sales role at LangChain?
For a new H-1B, the timeline depends on where you are in the lottery cycle. Cap-subject petitions are filed in April and employment typically starts October 1. Premium processing reduces USCIS adjudication to 15 business days but doesn't affect the start date. H-1B transfers and E-3 visas move faster and aren't lottery-dependent, with E-3 consular appointments in Australia often available within a few weeks.
