About us
At LangChain, our mission is to make intelligent agents ubiquitous. We build the foundation for agent engineering in the real world, helping developers move from prototypes to production-ready AI agents that teams can rely on. We began as widely adopted open-source tools and have grown to also offer a platform for building, evaluating, deploying, and operating agents at scale.
With $125M raised at Series B from IVP, Sequoia, Benchmark, CapitalG, and Sapphire Ventures, we’re at a stage where we’re continuing to develop new products, growth is accelerating, and all team members have meaningful impact on what we build and how we work together. LangChain is a place where your contributions can shape how this technology shows up in the real world.
Today, LangChain, LangGraph, LangSmith, and Fleet are used by teams shipping real AI products across startups and large enterprises. Millions of developers trust LangChain to power AI teams at companies like Replit, Clay, Coinbase, Workday, Lyft, Cloudflare, Harvey, Rippling, Vanta, and 35% of the Fortune 500.
About the Team
The Deployed Engineering team works directly with companies building and running AI agents in production, helping turn ideas and prototypes into systems teams can rely on.
This is a hands-on, highly technical team that partners closely with customer engineers across the full lifecycle, from pre-sales evaluations to post-deployment advisory work. The focus is on achieving the technical win, co-designing agent architectures, and helping customers operate agents reliably at scale using the LangChain suite.
Deployed Engineers sit at the intersection of engineering, product, and go-to-market, shaping how LangChain is adopted in the field and feeding real-world insights back into the platform.
We’re looking for a leader to build and scale our Deployed Engineering organization across the Central US region.
About the Role
As our Director, Deployed Engineering - Central, you will build and lead the team of deployed engineers working across the region.
You will build and lead a team of deployed engineers who establish LangChain’s technical and strategic credibility with our most important customers.
You will report to the Global Head of Deployed Engineering and operate as a peer to the regional sales leader, with shared ownership of outcomes.
This role is equal parts organizational leadership, customer engagement, and revenue accountability. You will define how deployed engineering operates in our East region, build a high-performing regional team, and ensure tight alignment between technical excellence and commercial success.
As a member of the global deployed engineering leadership team, you will also be a core contributor to shared strategy, helping define the playbooks, processes, and standards used across regions.
What You’ll Do
- Build and scale the deployed engineering team, owning hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management as the team grows rapidly.
- Achieve the technical win, driving urgency and focus with our customers, in order to rapidly advance our opportunities across the region.
- Partner with LangChain’s regional sales leader, with shared accountability for revenue outcomes and customer success.
- Lead technical strategy on our most strategic enterprise opportunities, engaging directly with senior technical and business stakeholders to shape evaluations, architecture, and solution design.
- Differentiate LangChain in competitive environments, clearly articulating our technical advantages, product vision, and unique expertise in building and deploying agents in production.
- Set and uphold the technical bar for deployed engineering, staying close to the product and modeling what excellent customer-facing engineering looks like.
- Co-create global playbooks and operating practices, contributing regional insights while maintaining strong global consistency.
- Develop future leaders, building a strong bench of deployed engineers and managers.
What We’re Looking For
- 10 years of experience in sales engineering, solutions architecture, engineering, or similar customer-facing technical roles at a dev tools, AI, or infrastructure company.
- Proven experience leading and scaling technical GTM teams.
- Deep technical expertise — you’re not a stranger to Python, and are well-versed in software engineering, platform engineering, and solutions architecture disciplines.
- Experience working with or selling to developers and engineering-led buyers.
- Strong track record of leading complex enterprise technical engagements and building trust with senior stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication and technical storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts and influence executive audiences.
- A bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, and a consistently high bar for excellence.
Bonus If You Have
- Familiarity with genAI, agents, observability, or open source software
- Experience as an early member of a startup GTM organization

Align Your Stack With LangChain's Core Products
LangChain's Engineering roles center on LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, and developer tooling. Before applying, audit your resume to surface hands-on experience with these systems. A profile that mirrors their open-source work converts faster than a general software background.
Clarify Your Visa Category Before Applying
H-1B and E-3 have different timelines and employer obligations. If you're Australian, the E-3 moves faster and has no lottery. Knowing which category fits your situation lets you ask the right questions during early recruiter conversations instead of after an offer lands.
Confirm Sponsorship Willingness in the First Screen
LangChain's Engineering requisitions often move quickly. Raise your visa status in the first recruiter call, not after technical rounds. Asking directly whether the role supports H-1B or E-3 transfer saves weeks if sponsorship isn't available for a specific position.
Understand the LCA Requirement Before Negotiating Compensation
Before USCIS approves an H-1B petition, your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your wage meets the prevailing rate for your location and role. Engineering salaries at tech companies often clear this threshold, but confirm the geographic wage level applies to your offer city.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Active Engineering Openings
Sponsoring companies don't always flag visa eligibility in job listings. Search LangChain's Engineering roles on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for positions open to H-1B and E-3 candidates so you're not guessing which listings are worth pursuing.
Time Your Application Around Cap and Lottery Deadlines
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS registration opens each March for an October 1 start date. Missing that window means waiting another full year. Target LangChain roles at least three to four months before registration opens so an offer can be secured in time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does LangChain sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, LangChain has sponsored H-1B visas for Engineering roles. Sponsorship is generally available for qualifying positions where the role meets USCIS specialty occupation criteria, which Engineering roles in AI infrastructure typically satisfy. Confirm sponsorship availability for the specific position during your recruiter screen, since not every opening will be approved for a new H-1B petition.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at LangChain?
You can find LangChain's open Engineering roles on their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can target roles open to H-1B or E-3 candidates directly. Tailor your application to LangChain's core products, particularly their open-source LLM tooling and agent frameworks, and be upfront about your visa status early in the process.
Which visa types does LangChain commonly use for Engineering roles?
LangChain sponsors both H-1B and E-3 visas for Engineering positions. The H-1B applies to a broad international talent pool but requires navigating the annual lottery if you don't already hold H-1B status. The E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens, has no lottery, and can be issued directly at a U.S. consulate, making it faster for eligible candidates.
What qualifications are expected for Engineering roles at LangChain?
LangChain Engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, which also satisfies the H-1B specialty occupation requirement. Practically, their postings prioritize experience with LLM frameworks, distributed systems, and developer-facing APIs. Hands-on contributions to open-source AI tooling are a distinguishing factor in competitive applicant pools.
How do I think about timing if I need H-1B sponsorship from LangChain?
If you need a new H-1B cap-subject petition, USCIS runs the lottery each March with an October 1 start date. That means you'd need an offer in place before March registration closes. If you're transferring an existing H-1B, timing is more flexible and work authorization can begin as soon as USCIS receives the petition. E-3 holders can typically start within weeks of consular approval.
