About us
At LangChain, our mission is to make intelligent agents ubiquitous. We build the foundation for agent engineering in the real world, helping developers move from prototypes to production-ready AI agents that teams can rely on. We began as widely adopted open-source tools and have grown to also offer a platform for building, evaluating, deploying, and operating agents at scale.
With $125M raised at Series B from IVP, Sequoia, Benchmark, CapitalG, and Sapphire Ventures, we’re at a stage where we’re continuing to develop new products, growth is accelerating, and all team members have meaningful impact on what we build and how we work together. LangChain is a place where your contributions can shape how this technology shows up in the real world.
Today, LangChain, LangGraph, LangSmith, and Fleet are used by teams shipping real AI products across startups and large enterprises. Millions of developers trust LangChain to power AI teams at companies like Replit, Clay, Coinbase, Workday, Lyft, Cloudflare, Harvey, Rippling, Vanta, and 35% of the Fortune 500.
About the Team
The LangSmith team owns and builds LangChain's core platform for observability, evaluation, and production reliability of AI systems. From tracing and annotation to run rules, evaluations, and beyond, this team owns LangSmith end-to-end. If you want to define what great AI observability looks like at production scale, this is where that work gets done.
About the Role
We're looking for a Product Manager to own key parts of LangSmith. Building AI products is changing the way software teams work; LangSmith is the observability, evals and deployment platform that makes shipping reliable AI systems possible.
This role sits at the intersection of user experience and production infrastructure. You'll partner with engineers to build features that feel intuitive while solving deeply technical problems: versioning complex prompt chains, debugging multi-step agent failures, or designing evaluation systems that scale from 10 to 10,000 test cases.
You'll work directly with customers — from early-stage startups shipping their first agent to enterprises running mission-critical AI systems — to understand where the platform breaks down and what capabilities unlock new workflows.
- Own the roadmap for a core area of the LangSmith platform.
- Work with customers to understand their challenges and define new product features.
- Work with engineering to define scope, make technical tradeoffs, and ship high-impact features quickly.
- Help shape product strategy alongside our founders and leadership team.
What you'll bring
- 3+ years of product management or engineering experience, ideally building developer tools, infrastructure products, or technical SaaS platforms.
- Deeply technical — you can hold your own in conversations about API design, system architecture, data pipelines, and debugging production issues.
- Bias toward action — you'd rather ship, learn, and iterate than build the perfect solution upfront.
- Strong written and verbal communicator who can align cross-functional teams around a shared vision.
Nice to Have
- Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical background.
- Previous experience at a high-growth startup or developer-focused company.
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs, agents, or AI applications.
Compensation
- Annual salary range: $180,000-$215,000
Compensation Philosophy:
We offer competitive compensation that includes base salary, variable compensation for relevant roles, meaningful equity, benefits, and perks. Actual compensation and offerings will vary based on role, level, and location. Team members in the EU, UK, and APAC receive locally competitive benefits aligned with regional norms and regulations.
Benefits
Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible vacation, a 401(k) plan, meals on in-office days in the US and more.

Frame your portfolio around LLM tooling
LangChain builds developer-facing AI infrastructure, so projects involving LLM orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, or agent frameworks signal direct relevance. Contributions to open-source AI tooling carry more weight here than general web application portfolios.
Confirm E-3 eligibility before applying
If you hold Australian citizenship, the E-3 visa offers a faster, cap-exempt path for Product Software Engineer roles. Unlike H-1B, there's no lottery, and LangChain has sponsored both types, so clarify your eligibility upfront when corresponding with the recruiting team.
Target roles where product and engineering overlap
LangChain regularly hires engineers who engage directly with developer communities and shape product direction. Emphasizing experience owning features end-to-end, writing technical docs, or working with external API consumers strengthens your fit for their product engineering function specifically.
Time your H-1B application around the lottery window
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March for an October 1 start date. If your offer comes outside that window, negotiate a start date that aligns with cap filing or ask about cap-exempt pathways if LangChain qualifies as a research or nonprofit-adjacent entity.
Get your specialty occupation documentation ready early
LangChain's Product Software Engineer roles typically require a computer science, software engineering, or closely related degree. Gather your official transcripts, credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the U.S., and any publications or open-source contributions before the offer stage so filing isn't delayed.
Use Migrate Mate to find open roles
Filtering for Product Software Engineer positions at LangChain that actively include visa sponsorship is faster with a dedicated tool. Migrate Mate surfaces these roles specifically so you can apply before headcount closes and sponsorship confirmation gets complicated.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does LangChain sponsor H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers?
Yes, LangChain has sponsored H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers. The H-1B requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation, which Product Software Engineer positions in AI infrastructure generally satisfy given the degree requirements involved. Sponsorship is employer-initiated, so confirm willingness early in the recruiting process rather than after an offer is extended.
How do I apply for Product Software Engineer jobs at LangChain?
Applications go through LangChain's careers page. Migrate Mate also lists their open Product Software Engineer roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you confirm the position is open to international candidates before you invest time in the process. Tailor your application to demonstrate experience with developer tooling, AI frameworks, or API product development, since those map closely to what LangChain's engineering teams build.
Which visa types are commonly used for Product Software Engineer roles at LangChain?
H-1B and E-3 are the two visa types LangChain has sponsored for this role. H-1B is available to all nationalities but subject to an annual lottery, while the E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens and has no lottery or annual cap. For engineers already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT, LangChain can file an H-1B during the annual March registration window to bridge the transition.
What qualifications does LangChain expect for Product Software Engineer candidates?
LangChain's product engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. Beyond the degree, hands-on experience building developer-facing products, working with LLM APIs, or contributing to open-source projects in the AI ecosystem is consistently valued. Engineers who can move between product thinking and deep technical implementation are a strong fit for how these teams operate.
How do I plan my timeline if I need LangChain to sponsor an H-1B?
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March, with approved petitions taking effect October 1. If you receive an offer and your current status allows you to start before October, negotiate a start date that works within your authorized period. If you're between jobs, the 60-day grace period for H-1B holders gives limited time to secure a new sponsor, so beginning the LangChain interview process before that window closes is important.
