INTRODUCTION
Bloomberg’s Engineering AI department has 400+ AI practitioners building highly sought after products and features that often require novel innovations. We are investing in AI to build better search, discovery, and workflow solutions using technologies such as transformers, gradient boosted decision trees, large language models, and dense vector databases. We are expanding our group and seeking highly skilled individuals who will be responsible for contributing to the team (or teams) of Machine Learning (ML) and Software Engineers that are bringing innovative solutions to AI-driven customer-facing products.
At Bloomberg, we believe in fostering a transparent and efficient financial marketplace. Our business is built on technology that makes news, research, financial data, and analytics on over 35 million financial instruments searchable, discoverable, and actionable across the global capital markets.
Bloomberg has been building Artificial Intelligence applications that offer solutions to these problems with high accuracy and low latency since 2009. We build AI systems to help process and organize the ever-increasing volume of structured and unstructured information needed to make informed decisions. Our use of AI uncovers signals, helps us produce analytics about financial instruments in all asset classes, and delivers clarity when our clients need it most.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a Senior AI Platform Experiences Software Engineer to help define and build the interaction layer for Bloomberg’s GenAI platform. This role focuses on designing and developing systems, APIs, and interfaces that enable engineers to build, operate, and interact with LLMs, agents, and AI-driven workflows at scale. It sits at the intersection of frontend engineering, platform infrastructure, and AI systems.
Our teams build GenAI-native platform experiences, including agentic UI interaction models, streaming and structured outputs, and developer workflows across the agent development lifecycle (ADLC). We leverage and contribute to open-source technologies including React, Vite, GraphQL, Kubernetes, Docker, and emerging GenAI frameworks.
Join the AI Group as a Senior AI Platform Experiences Software Engineer and you will have the opportunity to:
- Architect, build, and evolve interaction systems for GenAI platforms, including APIs, Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers, and UI frameworks
- Explore patterns for agent-to-UI (A2UI), MCP-powered applications, and human-in-the-loop interaction models
- Work closely with GenAI platform and application teams to understand workflows, identify inefficiencies, and shape the next generation of platform capabilities
- Improve observability, debuggability, and reliability of GenAI systems by building shared tooling, interfaces, and platform capabilities used across teams
- Drive performance, scalability, and usability improvements across platform experiences
- Contribute to and collaborate with open-source and internal GenAI ecosystems, including technologies like MCP
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a Senior AI Platform Experiences Software Engineer with:
- Proven experience building modern web and platform systems using Node.js, React, TypeScript, Vite, or similar technologies
- Experience with modern frontend tooling such as Tailwind, Playwright, or equivalent
- Experience designing and building Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) APIs, developer platforms, design systems, or component libraries
- Experience with or strong interest in agent-based systems (A2A, A2UI), MCP apps, and building AI-native interaction workflows
- Strong understanding of system design, distributed systems, and API architecture
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
- An honest and collaborative approach to problem-solving
COMPENSATION
- Salary Range: 160000 - 240000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
We offer one of the most comprehensive and generous benefits plans available and offer a range of total rewards that may include merit increases, incentive compensation (exempt roles only), paid holidays, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability benefits, 401(k) + match, life insurance, and various wellness programs, among others. The Company does not provide benefits directly to contingent workers/contractors and interns.

Align your portfolio to Bloomberg's stack
Bloomberg engineering roles emphasize real-time data systems, distributed infrastructure, and low-latency applications. Showcase projects involving C++, Python, or large-scale data pipelines to signal direct relevance before your resume reaches a recruiter.
Target product-facing teams in your application
Bloomberg distinguishes between core infrastructure and product-facing engineering. Roles on the Terminal, analytics, or data products side often have more defined hiring cycles and clearer specialty occupation documentation, which strengthens your visa petition's evidentiary foundation.
Verify your role qualifies as a specialty occupation
USCIS requires that H-1B positions normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. For Bloomberg product engineering roles, confirm with your recruiter that the job description explicitly requires a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
Start your job search on Migrate Mate
Browse confirmed Product Software Engineer openings at Bloomberg filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate, so you're targeting roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process rather than negotiating it after an offer.
Prepare for the LCA wage tier before negotiating
Bloomberg files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. The certified wage must meet the prevailing wage for your role and work location, so understand the wage level tiers for software engineers in New York before salary discussions begin.
Use the 60-day grace period strategically if between roles
If you're transitioning from another employer on H-1B status, USCIS allows a 60-day grace period after your last day. File Bloomberg's H-1B transfer petition before that window closes to maintain continuous work authorization without a status gap.

Find Product Software Engineer at Bloomberg JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Bloomberg sponsor H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers?
Yes, Bloomberg sponsors H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers. The company has an established internal immigration process that handles petitions through the annual H-1B cap lottery each March. If you're already on H-1B status with another employer, Bloomberg can also file an H-1B transfer, which is not subject to the cap and can begin immediately upon offer acceptance.
Which visa types does Bloomberg commonly sponsor for Product Software Engineers?
Bloomberg sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Product Software Engineers, as well as supporting Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-tenured employees. Australian citizens should specifically ask about the E-3, which has no lottery and allows year-round filing. Canadian and Chilean nationals may qualify for the H-1B1, which also bypasses the cap.
How do I apply for Product Software Engineer jobs at Bloomberg?
You can find confirmed Product Software Engineer openings at Bloomberg through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you know upfront that Bloomberg is actively sponsoring for a given position. From there, Bloomberg's application process typically includes a recruiter screen, technical assessments covering data structures and system design, and multiple engineering interviews before an offer is extended.
What qualifications does Bloomberg expect for Product Software Engineer roles?
Bloomberg generally expects a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. For product engineering roles, strong proficiency in C++ or Python is common, along with experience in distributed systems or real-time data processing. The degree requirement is also foundational to the H-1B specialty occupation standard, so a closely matched credential strengthens your petition.
How do I understand the visa sponsorship timeline for a Bloomberg offer?
Timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B cap cases require filing in April for an October 1 start, so offers made outside that window may require bridging on your current status. H-1B transfers, E-3 consular appointments, and H-1B1 filings can move faster, often within six to ten weeks. Bloomberg's immigration team will coordinate directly with you once an offer is made.
