Align Your Degree to Device Commercialization
Medtronic's H-1B filings for Product Associates typically require a degree in biomedical engineering, life sciences, or business. Framing your academic background around clinical product workflows, not just general business, strengthens the specialty occupation argument during USCIS adjudication.
Target Medtronic's Therapy-Specific Business Units
Medtronic organizes hiring by therapy area, including cardiac, diabetes, and neuroscience. Applying directly to a business unit with active product launches gives you a stronger shot than applying to a generic open requisition with no defined product scope.
Search Open Roles Through Migrate Mate
Medtronic posts Product Associate openings across multiple therapy divisions, and roles move quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter current openings by visa type so you're only reviewing positions with active sponsorship eligibility for your situation.
Clarify OPT Authorization Before Your First Interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM extension eligibility before the offer stage. Medical device companies like Medtronic use E-Verify, which is required for STEM OPT authorization and must be in place at your employer of record before your standard OPT expires.
Understand Where Green Card Timing Fits
Medtronic sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, but PERM labor certification typically begins after you've established yourself in a role. If long-term authorization is your goal, ask during the offer stage about the company's standard timeline for initiating PERM for Product Associate positions.
Prepare Offer Letter Language Before H-1B Filing
The job duties listed in your offer letter must map precisely to the specialty occupation definition USCIS evaluates. Before your employer submits the I-129, review the role description for language that ties your responsibilities to a specific technical or scientific field, not just general product coordination.

Find Product Associate at Medtronic JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Medtronic sponsor H-1B visas for Product Associates?
Yes, Medtronic sponsors H-1B visas for Product Associate roles. The company has a dedicated immigration function and works with outside counsel to manage petitions. For this role, USCIS will evaluate whether the position meets the specialty occupation standard, so the job duties and your qualifying degree need to align clearly with a specific technical or scientific field.
How do I apply for Product Associate jobs at Medtronic?
Applications go through Medtronic's careers portal, where you can search by therapy area, location, and job function. Roles are organized by business unit rather than a single product team, so filtering by your clinical or technical background helps narrow relevant openings. Migrate Mate also aggregates Medtronic's Product Associate postings with visa sponsorship filters so you can identify which roles are open to international candidates.
Which visa types does Medtronic commonly use for Product Associate roles?
Medtronic sponsors H-1B visas, F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates, and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. For longer-term pathways, the company also files EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions. The right visa depends on your nationality, degree level, and where you are in the H-1B lottery cycle.
What qualifications does Medtronic expect for Product Associate roles?
Most Product Associate postings at Medtronic expect a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, life sciences, business, or a related field. Hands-on experience with medical device commercialization, clinical sales support, or regulatory documentation strengthens your profile. Some therapy-specific roles, particularly in cardiac or neuromodulation, also favor candidates with direct clinical or hospital environment exposure.
How do I time my job search if I'm approaching the end of my OPT?
If your OPT expiration falls between April and October, you're in the H-1B cap filing window, which runs from April 1 each year. USCIS requires the I-129 petition to be filed for an October 1 start date, so your offer needs to be in place by late March. If you have a STEM-eligible degree, a 24-month OPT extension through E-Verify gives you more runway to clear the lottery.
