Get Your Electrical Credentials Evaluated Early
If your electrician's license or trade qualifications were issued outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before applying. Shermco's roles often require state-specific licensing, so knowing your equivalency upfront saves weeks during the offer stage.
Target Shermco Locations in License-Reciprocity States
Shermco operates across multiple states with different journeyman and master electrician licensing requirements. Applying to sites in states that offer reciprocity with your existing license shortens the time between offer and your first day on the job.
Align Your Application With OSHA and NFPA 70E Experience
Medical device facilities like Shermco's require electricians who can work in regulated environments. Highlighting OSHA 30 certification and hands-on NFPA 70E arc flash safety experience in your resume directly addresses the compliance expectations hiring managers screen for.
Understand How EB-3 PERM Timelines Affect Your Start Date
EB-3 sponsorship requires the employer to complete a PERM labor certification with DOL before USCIS can process your petition. This process alone can take six to eighteen months, so negotiate your start date and any OPT or TN bridge options with your recruiter before signing.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Shermco Electrician Openings Filtered by Visa Type
Shermco posts electrician roles across many locations, and not every opening comes with the same sponsorship support. Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions by the visa types Shermco sponsors so you're only applying to roles where your immigration pathway is already supported.
Clarify TN Status Eligibility Before Accepting an Offer
TN classification is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals, but electricians typically must demonstrate the role qualifies under an eligible USMCA profession. Confirm with the hiring team whether your specific role and duties at Shermco meet TN criteria before relying on it as your entry pathway.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Shermco Industries sponsor H-1B visas for Electricians?
Shermco Industries' primary sponsorship pathways for Electricians are employment-based Green Card routes like EB-2 and EB-3, along with F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visa. The H-1B visa is generally designed for specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field, and electrician roles are typically classified as skilled trades rather than specialty occupations, which makes H-1B less common for this role type.
How do I apply for Electrician jobs at Shermco Industries?
You can browse and apply for Electrician openings at Shermco Industries through their careers portal or through Migrate Mate, where you can filter roles by visa sponsorship type to confirm your pathway is supported before applying. When you apply, emphasize any state journeyman or master electrician licenses you hold, relevant safety certifications like OSHA 30 or NFPA 70E, and prior experience in regulated industrial or medical device environments.
Which visa types does Shermco Industries commonly use for Electrician roles?
Shermco Industries sponsors Electricians through EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card petitions, F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing electrical or engineering programs, TN status for qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals, and J-1 for trainees or exchange visitors. EB-3 is the most common path for skilled trade workers, as it is designed for positions that require less than a bachelor's degree but involve specific vocational qualifications.
What qualifications does Shermco Industries expect from Electrician candidates?
Shermco typically looks for candidates with a journeyman electrician license in the relevant state, hands-on industrial electrical experience, and familiarity with safety standards like NFPA 70E and OSHA regulations. For roles in medical device facilities, experience with regulated environments and quality-compliant electrical systems is a strong differentiator. Apprenticeship completion documentation and any master electrician credentials meaningfully strengthen your application.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for Electrician roles at Shermco?
Timeline depends heavily on which visa pathway applies to you. F-1 OPT authorization through USCIS takes up to 90 days after your application is submitted, so apply early. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification with DOL can take six to eighteen months before USCIS even begins processing your petition, and priority date backlogs add further time for some nationalities. TN status for Canadians can be processed at the port of entry on the same day.
