Obtain NFPA 70E and OSHA Certifications First
Shermco's maintenance electrical work involves arc flash hazard assessments and high-voltage systems. Holding current NFPA 70E and OSHA 30 certifications before you apply signals field-ready competency and reduces employer hesitation about sponsoring a less-familiar candidate.
Target Shermco Locations Near Medical Device Clusters
Shermco staffs Maintenance Electrician roles at service centers and client sites, including those supporting regulated medical device manufacturing. Focusing your applications on branches in medical device corridors like Minnesota, California, or Massachusetts increases your chances of landing a role with steady, long-term work authorization needs.
Browse Open Roles Directly Through Migrate Mate
Shermco posts Maintenance Electrician openings across multiple locations and they fill quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter active Shermco listings by visa sponsorship type so you're applying only to roles where your specific status, whether F-1 OPT, TN, or EB-3, is already supported.
Clarify Your OPT or TN Timeline Before Interviews
If you're on F-1 OPT or TN status, Shermco's hiring team will want to understand your current authorization window. Knowing your exact OPT expiration date or TN renewal cycle lets you frame the sponsorship conversation around a concrete timeline rather than an open-ended ask.
Ask HR About the PERM Process Timeline Early
EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship requires DOL PERM labor certification, which can take 12 to 24 months before USCIS filing even begins. Raising this in the offer stage, not after you start, gives Shermco's HR team time to engage immigration counsel and build the process into your onboarding plan.
Document Your High-Voltage and Switchgear Experience Precisely
Shermco's Maintenance Electrician roles frequently involve switchgear testing, transformer maintenance, and relay calibration for industrial clients. Your resume should list specific equipment types, voltage levels worked on, and industry environments, especially any regulated manufacturing settings relevant to medical devices, not just general electrical duties.

Find Maintenance Electrician at Shermco Industries JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Shermco Industries sponsor H-1B visas for Maintenance Electricians?
Shermco Industries does not appear to sponsor H-1B visas for Maintenance Electrician roles. H-1B status requires a specialty occupation tied to a specific bachelor's degree, and trades-based electrician positions typically don't meet that threshold. Shermco's sponsorship for this role focuses on pathways like EB-2, EB-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and J-1 instead.
Which visa types are commonly used for Maintenance Electrician roles at Shermco Industries?
For Maintenance Electrician positions, Shermco supports F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for recent graduates in relevant technical programs, TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations, J-1 for training or exchange purposes, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa categories for longer-term permanent residence pathways. The right fit depends on your current status, nationality, and how far along in your career you are.
How do I apply for Maintenance Electrician jobs at Shermco Industries?
Applications go through Shermco's careers portal, where listings are organized by location and service line. Since open Maintenance Electrician roles are spread across many U.S. cities and close quickly, browsing Shermco's active listings on Migrate Mate lets you filter by visa sponsorship type and apply directly to roles that match your current immigration status, saving time on manually screening each posting.
What qualifications and experience does Shermco look for in Maintenance Electricians?
Shermco typically looks for candidates with a journeyman electrician license or equivalent trade certification, hands-on experience with medium- and high-voltage equipment, and familiarity with industrial or regulated manufacturing environments. For roles supporting medical device facilities, experience following strict safety and documentation protocols matters. NFPA 70E certification and OSHA 30 training strengthen your application considerably.
How do I understand the timeline for Green Card sponsorship through Shermco Industries?
EB-3 sponsorship, the most common Green Card pathway for skilled trades roles, begins with a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL, which alone can take 12 to 24 months. After PERM approval, Shermco files an I-140 petition with USCIS, and your priority date determines when you can file for adjustment of status. For most nationalities other than India, the full process from offer to Green Card can take two to four years.
