Align your credentials to NETA certifications
Shermco prioritizes technicians with NETA or NICET certifications for field testing roles. Getting certified before you apply signals job-readiness and reduces employer hesitation around sponsoring someone who still needs technical credentialing after hiring.
Target regional offices with active field work
Shermco operates service centers across multiple states, and technician hiring concentrates around regions with high industrial and healthcare facility density. Applying to locations with active project pipelines increases the chance your role clears the specialty occupation threshold for H-1B or TN sponsorship.
Ask directly about PERM timing before accepting
If you need an employment-based Green Card, clarify upfront whether Shermco will initiate PERM labor certification for your role. EB-2 and EB-3 processes through DOL can take years, and knowing the employer's timeline expectations lets you plan accordingly.
Frame your degree equivalency for TN eligibility
Canadian and Mexican candidates can use the TN visa for engineering technologist roles, but the DOL requires your degree to align specifically with the position. A three-year Canadian engineering technology diploma paired with relevant experience often satisfies the requirement where a general sciences degree would not.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Shermco technician roles
Shermco posts Electrical Engineering Technician openings across multiple locations, and tracking which postings are currently active matters when you're working against a visa deadline. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Shermco roles that are open to sponsorship and apply before positions close.

Find Electrical Engineering Technician at Shermco Industries JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Shermco Industries sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineering Technicians?
Shermco Industries has sponsored H-1B visas for engineering and technical roles. Whether a specific Electrical Engineering Technician position qualifies depends on whether USCIS classifies it as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field. Roles focused on high-voltage testing, power systems analysis, or specialized medical device environments tend to have a stronger specialty occupation argument than general maintenance technician positions.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineering Technician jobs at Shermco Industries?
Applications go through Shermco's careers portal, where roles are listed by region and service line. Before applying, confirm the posting mentions degree requirements aligned with your visa category, since this affects whether your application qualifies for sponsorship review. Migrate Mate lists Shermco's active sponsorship-eligible openings so you can identify the right postings before going directly to the company's application page.
Which visa types does Shermco Industries commonly use for Electrical Engineering Technicians?
Shermco has sponsored F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, J-1, and employment-based immigrant visas including EB-2 and EB-3 for technical roles. F-1 OPT is the most common entry point for recent graduates, with STEM OPT extension providing runway toward H-1B sponsorship. TN is a strong option for Canadian and Mexican engineers who meet the specific occupational criteria under USMCA.
What qualifications and experience does Shermco expect for Electrical Engineering Technician roles?
Most Shermco technician roles require a bachelor's degree or associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, power systems, or a closely related field, along with hands-on experience with electrical testing equipment and safety protocols. NETA certification is frequently listed as preferred or required. Candidates with backgrounds in high-voltage systems, switchgear testing, or medical device facility maintenance align most closely with Shermco's core service work.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Shermco technician hire?
Timeline depends on visa type. TN approval for Canadian candidates can happen at the port of entry in a single day. H-1B requires cap registration in March, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest, so a full cycle can run six to nine months. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card paths through PERM labor certification at DOL typically add two or more years before permanent residency is granted.
