Obtain NETA or NICET Certification Before Applying
Shermco's Industrial Technician roles center on high-voltage electrical testing and commissioning. Holding a NETA Level II or higher certification signals job-ready competency and reduces the employer's onboarding burden, which strengthens your case for sponsorship.
Target Shermco Locations Near Active Project Sites
Shermco staffs technicians regionally around utility, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Search by state rather than headquarters to find postings tied to active contracts, where hiring timelines are tighter and sponsorship decisions move faster.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Open Industrial Technician Roles
Shermco posts Industrial Technician openings across many locations at once. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at Shermco that match your visa type, so you're applying to positions the company is actively staffing and sponsoring.
Prepare a PERM-Ready Employment History Record
If you're pursuing an EB-3 Green Card through Shermco, DOL's PERM process requires a detailed work history verifying you meet the minimum requirements for the role. Gather documentation of previous technician experience, job titles, and dates before your first interview.
Align Your OPT or CPT Dates With Shermco's Project Cycle
F-1 students on OPT have a fixed authorization window. Shermco's hiring often follows project award cycles, so timing your application during active project ramp-up periods reduces the risk of your OPT expiring before a petition can be filed.

Find Industrial Technician at Shermco Industries JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Shermco Industries sponsor H-1B visas for Industrial Technicians?
Shermco's sponsorship activity for Industrial Technicians leans toward employment-based Green Card pathways like EB-2 and EB-3, along with F-1 OPT, CPT, TN, and J-1 visas. H-1B sponsorship is less common for hands-on technician roles because USCIS requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, which can be a harder threshold to meet for field technician work compared to engineering or professional roles.
How do I apply for Industrial Technician jobs at Shermco Industries?
Shermco posts openings directly on its careers page and through job boards, but listings are spread across many regional locations. The most efficient approach is to use Migrate Mate to browse Shermco's active Industrial Technician postings filtered by visa type, so you only see roles where sponsorship is a realistic option for your situation. Apply directly through the official job link from there.
Which visa types does Shermco Industries commonly use for Industrial Technician roles?
Shermco sponsors Industrial Technicians through F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing electrical or engineering technology programs, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations, J-1 for trainees or exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based Green Card pathways for longer-term hires. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree, and how quickly you need authorization.
What qualifications does Shermco Industries expect from Industrial Technician candidates?
Shermco typically looks for candidates with an associate degree or higher in electrical technology, power systems, or a related field, combined with hands-on experience in high-voltage testing, switchgear, or power distribution equipment. NETA certification is highly valued and can differentiate your application. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and field documentation practices is expected across most technician levels.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take if Shermco offers me an Industrial Technician role?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. F-1 OPT authorization is tied to your existing EAD, so work can begin quickly if your card is valid. TN status can be granted at the border or port of entry the same day for Canadians, or within a few weeks via consular processing for Mexicans. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM is a multi-year process and is typically reserved for technicians Shermco intends to retain long-term.
