Certify Your Hands-On Technical Credentials Early
Zoox's Mechanical Technician roles emphasize fabrication, CNC operation, and vehicle systems experience. Gather documentation of your certifications and hands-on work history before applying, since H-1B specialty occupation approval for technician roles requires clear credential evidence.
Target Zoox's Foster City and Fremont Facilities
Zoox concentrates Mechanical Technician hiring around its California development and testing sites. Applying to location-specific postings rather than generic requisitions signals fit with their autonomous vehicle prototype and integration workflow.
Clarify Your OPT or CPT Timeline During Screening
If you're on F-1 OPT, communicate your authorization end date and STEM extension eligibility in your first recruiter conversation. Zoox's technical hiring moves through multiple interview stages, so early transparency prevents offer timing from colliding with your work authorization window.
Understand How LCA Prevailing Wages Apply to Your Role
Before your offer stage, look up DOL prevailing wage levels for Mechanical Technician positions in the San Francisco Bay Area. Your offered salary must meet the LCA-certified wage, and knowing the floor helps you evaluate whether an offer is approvable before signing.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Zoox's Active Technician Openings
Mechanical Technician postings at Zoox vary by specialization, including vehicle assembly, test equipment, and electromechanical systems. Use Migrate Mate to filter Zoox's current openings by role type and confirmed visa sponsorship so you're applying to positions aligned with your authorization.
Confirm Zoox's Cap-Subject Filing Window Before Accepting
If your role requires a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS registration opens each March for an October 1 start date. Confirm with Zoox's immigration team that your offer timeline aligns with this window, since technician roles are less likely to qualify for cap-exempt pathways than research positions.

Find Mechanical Technician at Zoox JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Zoox sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Technicians?
Yes, Zoox sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Technician roles, though approval depends on whether the specific position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Technician roles that require a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience are most defensible. If your role involves highly technical autonomous vehicle systems work, the specialty occupation argument is stronger.
Which visa types are commonly used for Mechanical Technician roles at Zoox?
Zoox sponsors several visa categories for technical roles, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT or CPT for students. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is also available for longer-term employees. The right category depends on your nationality, degree level, and how the specific role is classified.
What qualifications does Zoox expect for Mechanical Technician positions?
Zoox typically looks for hands-on experience with fabrication, mechanical assembly, and test equipment, often in an automotive, aerospace, or robotics environment. Familiarity with CAD software, CNC machines, and vehicle integration workflows is commonly cited in their postings. A relevant associate's or bachelor's degree strengthens your application, particularly if you're pursuing H-1B sponsorship where USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation status.
How do I apply for Mechanical Technician jobs at Zoox?
You can browse and apply for Mechanical Technician openings at Zoox through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles with confirmed visa sponsorship so you avoid applying to positions that won't support your work authorization. Zoox's hiring process for technician roles typically includes a recruiter screen, a technical skills assessment, and one or more interviews covering hands-on experience and systems knowledge.
How do I time my application around Zoox's H-1B sponsorship process?
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March each year for an October 1 start. To meet that window, you'd ideally have an offer and begin the petition process by late January or February. If you're already on OPT or another valid status, Zoox can file an H-1B while you continue working, but confirm this with their immigration counsel before your start date.
