Align your portfolio to AV hardware milestones
Zoox evaluates mechanical engineers on experience with full vehicle development cycles, not just component design. Document your work on DFM, tolerance analysis, or system integration at each prototype stage before you apply.
Time OPT applications around Zoox hiring cycles
Zoox recruits mechanical engineers in rolling waves tied to vehicle program timelines. If you're on F-1 OPT, file your EAD application with USCIS at least 90 days before your program end date so authorization is in hand when an offer arrives.
Highlight cross-functional hardware experience in your resume
Zoox's mechanical roles sit at the intersection of structures, thermal, and manufacturing engineering. Applicants who show experience collaborating across these disciplines are stronger fits for roles that require coordinating hardware releases in an autonomous vehicle program.

Find Mechanical Project Engineer at Zoox JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Zoox sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Project Engineers?
Yes, Zoox sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Project Engineers. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery for new applicants and also files cap-exempt petitions where eligible. Because Zoox operates in autonomous vehicle hardware development, Mechanical Project Engineer roles consistently qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria, making them a strong fit for H-1B sponsorship.
How do I apply for Mechanical Project Engineer jobs at Zoox?
You can browse and apply for Mechanical Project Engineer openings at Zoox directly through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you can confirm Zoox supports your visa category before applying. Zoox typically screens for candidates with relevant hardware development experience and may conduct multiple technical interview rounds focused on mechanical design and systems integration.
Which visa types does Zoox commonly sponsor for Mechanical Project Engineers?
Zoox sponsors a broad range of visa categories for Mechanical Project Engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, J-1 for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 categories. The right category depends on your nationality, educational background, and current immigration status.
What qualifications and experience does Zoox expect for Mechanical Project Engineer roles?
Zoox typically looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with full vehicle or complex hardware development cycles is valued, including familiarity with CAD tools, DFM principles, tolerance stack-up analysis, and cross-functional coordination.
