INTRODUCTION
The Program Management Office (PMO) at Zoox is responsible for driving cross-functional program planning and execution at the highest level. We partner with leaders from across the company in vehicle development, system design, software engineering, manufacturing, fleet operations, and business functions to develop and deliver major corporate milestones on the path to launch, and beyond. Our program managers contribute to the end to end success of technical, integrated product milestones involving both of our vehicle platforms - the Toyota Highlander test fleet and Zoox’s purpose-built robotaxi.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will:
-
Own the fleet validation operational strategy: Lead the end-to-end strategy and execution of mileage accumulation for both the physical test fleet and simulation assets, to enable Zoox’s geofence expansion across all cities. Partner closely with upstream teams (e.g. Autonomy, Systems Design & Mission Assurance, Places & Build) and downstream teams (e.g. Data Science, Fleet Operations) to ensure critical inputs are available, and results are delivered; you will ultimately "own the outcome" of test fleet data collection. This is a high leverage, high impact role.
-
Usher in a simulation-first methodology: Act as the cross-functional catalyst for scaling simulated mileage accumulation. Drive alignment between Autonomy, System Design & Mission Assurance, and Simulation teams to ensure clear requirements are set, and simulation platforms are resourced to meet exponentially growing data needs.
-
Identify and resolve critical bottlenecks: Develop rigorous tracking mechanisms that model the impact of upstream dependencies (e.g., map content deliverables and safety requirements). You’ll think critically and work cross-functionally to squash inefficiencies in upstream and downstream pipelines and systems. Partner collaboratively with program leads and executive leadership across orgs to reshape deliverables, timelines, and program scope where necessary to ensure overall program success.
-
Relentlessly investigate and creatively resolve blockers: Treat flatlining progress metrics as immediate triggers for action. Dig deep into root causes, negotiate thoughtfully with stakeholders on complex requests, and design out-of-the-box technical workarounds when ideal solutions are unavailable. Always present concrete mitigation plans, rather than accepting the status quo.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of TPM experience, with a strong background in complex hardware/software integration, system verification and validation (V&V), or safety-critical systems.
- A naturally inquisitive, highly technical mindset. You do not accept the status quo and have the discipline to negotiate aggressively with stakeholders to protect the program's critical path.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical bottlenecks into clear, data-backed executive narratives that enable timely, critical business decisions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Deep experience with autonomous vehicle and/or simulation platforms, virtual validation strategies, or synthetic data generation.
- Familiarity with optimization frameworks and large-scale data acquisition programs.
COMPENSATION
- Base Salary Range: There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.

Tips for Finding Technical Project Manager Jobs at Zoox
Frame credentials around hardware-software integration
Zoox's TPM roles sit at the boundary of robotics, sensor systems, and software deployment. Translating your project management credentials into AV-specific domains, like systems integration or safety validation, strengthens your application before you apply.
Target roles aligned with your visa category
Zoox sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT among others. Cross-referencing open TPM postings with your current status saves time. If you're on OPT, confirm your end date allows enough runway for cap-season H-1B filing in March.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter Technical Project Manager openings at Zoox by visa type on Migrate Mate to find roles that match your authorization. Verified sponsorship data means you're not guessing which postings are real opportunities before investing time in applications.
Understand how LCA prevailing wage affects your offer
Before signing an offer, check that your compensation meets the DOL prevailing wage for your work location. Zoox files Labor Condition Applications specifying wage level and worksite. A Level I wage for a senior TPM role can signal a misclassified position worth clarifying.
Prepare for cross-functional interview rounds with program data
Zoox TPM interviews typically probe program execution across mechanical, electrical, and software teams. Bring documented examples of milestone tracking, risk escalation, and dependency management in hardware-forward or safety-critical environments. Autonomous vehicle experience is a differentiator.
Confirm petition timing before accepting a start date
If your role requires an H-1B transfer or a new petition, USCIS standard processing currently runs several months. Negotiate your start date to account for receipt notice timelines. Premium processing can reduce USCIS adjudication to 15 business days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Zoox sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Project Managers?
Yes, Zoox sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Project Manager roles. The company files both new cap-subject petitions and transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status. If you're currently on H-1B with another employer, you can begin working at Zoox as soon as the transfer petition is filed with USCIS, without waiting for approval.
How do I apply for Technical Project Manager jobs at Zoox?
Applications go through Zoox's careers portal directly. Before applying, review the job description carefully for language around systems integration, program governance, or cross-functional coordination, since TPM postings at Zoox vary by product area. You can browse verified open Technical Project Manager roles at Zoox filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate to identify the best fit before submitting.
Which visa types does Zoox commonly sponsor for Technical Project Manager roles?
Zoox sponsors a broad range of visa categories for Technical Project Managers, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa, E-3 visa, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Cards under EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality and current status. Australian and Canadian citizens have access to the E-3 visa and TN visa respectively, which offer simpler processes than the H-1B cap lottery.
What qualifications does Zoox look for in Technical Project Manager candidates?
Zoox typically expects a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field for TPM roles. Beyond the degree, they prioritize hands-on experience managing programs across hardware and software teams in complex product development environments. Familiarity with safety-critical systems, robotics, or automotive development cycles strengthens a candidacy significantly. PMP certification is helpful but not universally required across all TPM levels.
How do I think about timing when pursuing a Technical Project Manager role at Zoox on a work visa?
Timing depends on your current status. F-1 OPT holders should apply several months before OPT expires to allow room for H-1B cap filing in March. H-1B transfers take effect upon filing with USCIS, so start dates can be more flexible. For new H-1B petitions, USCIS standard processing can run several months, and the cap opens October 1 each fiscal year. Factor in your employer's LCA certification timeline with the DOL as well, since that must complete before USCIS filing.
