INTRODUCTION
Zoox is marching toward commercialization of our ride-hail service, and we are laying the foundation to dramatically scale our fleet operations. We need a highly analytical, data-driven program manager to lead our cost control program: identifying where cost is being lost in current operations, quantifying the size of the opportunity, and driving cross-functional teams to close the gap.
As the Senior / Staff Program Manager, Operations Cost Analytics, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of our cost reduction efforts, managing the full lifecycle: analyzing operations, building visibility tools, defining problem statements, setting up improvement plans, and delivering measurable cost impact. You will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, and Product teams to translate operational data into clear, actionable cost-reduction programs.
This role requires strong analytical rigor and program execution skills. You must be comfortable getting into the details of operational and cost data, building or specifying tools that make that data visible to the teams who can act on it, and running the structured, cross-functional process required to turn an identified cost driver into a delivered improvement. You should be highly self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple analytical and cross-functional workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will:
- Analyze the current state of fleet operations to identify, size, and prioritize cost drivers and inefficiencies, using data as the primary basis for prioritization.
- Lead the operations cost control program: define the strategy and roadmap for reducing operating costs and translate it into detailed, trackable improvement plans.
- Build detailed plans for each cost-reduction opportunity by working with a wide range of stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, and Product to define scope, owners, and timelines.
- Drive individual problem statements from analysis through resolution, ensuring that improvements are actually reflected in cost outcomes, not just process or roadmap completion.
- Identify gaps in cost visibility and build or specify tools and dashboards that give partner teams better, more self-serve visibility into the problems that are impacting cost.
- Develop and maintain KPIs and metrics that track cost performance, program progress, and the impact of completed initiatives.
- Partner with Finance and Data Science to ensure cost analyses are grounded in accurate, trusted data and that reported savings tie back to actuals.
- Clearly communicate program status, cost trends, and the impact of improvements to stakeholders and leadership.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- BS degree in an engineering, analytics, or quantitative discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in program management, analytics, operations, finance, or management consulting, with a track record of driving quantifiable cost or efficiency improvements.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; comfortable working directly with operational and cost data to find root causes and size opportunities.
- Experience specifying or building tools/dashboards (e.g., working with Data Science or Engineering) that give stakeholders visibility into operational and cost data.
- Demonstrated ability to run structured, cross-functional programs from problem identification through to measurable results.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization and strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter with a strong bias for action and the ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort translating ambiguous operational challenges into structured analyses and action plans.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (Operations Research, Analytics, Engineering, Finance, etc.)
- Management consulting or strategic consulting experience, particularly in cost or operational efficiency engagements.
- Experience in the autonomous vehicle, ride-hail, transportation, aerospace, airline, or other relevant mobility industries.
- Experience with SQL, BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker), or working closely with data engineering teams to build reporting infrastructure.
- Lean Six Sigma green or black belt certification.
COMPENSATION
- Base Salary Range: There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.

Frame your experience around AV deployment logistics
Zoox operations teams support physical fleet testing and rider deployment, not traditional manufacturing lines. Highlight experience coordinating field teams, managing test fleets, or supporting hardware rollouts rather than general supply chain or warehouse roles.
Verify your visa category before applying
Zoox sponsors multiple visa types including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. Confirm which category fits your citizenship and status before outreach, since operations roles often have USCIS-defined specialty occupation requirements that affect your eligibility and the filing timeline.
Target operations roles tied to active test programs
Zoox's operations hiring follows deployment timelines in specific markets. Roles linked to active testing corridors in Las Vegas and Foster City tend to open in clusters. Watch for job postings that reference specific service areas or fleet expansion phases.
Request an OPT start date that aligns with onboarding
If you're joining on F-1 OPT, coordinate your USCIS-authorized start date with Zoox's onboarding calendar. Operations roles often require physical site access from day one, so a misaligned start date creates compliance risk for both you and the employer.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Zoox operations openings early
Operations roles at autonomous vehicle companies fill quickly and don't always surface on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter Zoox openings by visa type so you're applying to roles where your sponsorship category is already confirmed, not guessing from the job description.
Prepare for a DOL prevailing wage review on your offer
Operations job titles at tech companies like Zoox often sit at wage levels that require careful DOL prevailing wage matching during the LCA or PERM process. Ask your recruiter which wage tier your specific role falls under before negotiating, since mismatches can delay your filing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Zoox sponsor H-1B visas for Operations roles?
Yes, Zoox sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying operations positions. The role must meet USCIS specialty occupation standards, which generally means a direct connection between a bachelor's degree in a specific field and the duties of the job. Operations roles tied to technical program management, systems coordination, or AV fleet infrastructure are more likely to qualify than generalist logistics positions.
How do I apply for Operations jobs at Zoox?
Applications go through Zoox's careers page. Before applying, filter by roles that explicitly list visa sponsorship or match your visa category. Migrate Mate lets you browse Zoox's operations openings filtered by sponsored visa type, which saves time and ensures you're targeting positions where your status is already supported. Tailor your resume to AV operations terminology specific to Zoox's deployment programs.
Which visa types does Zoox commonly use for Operations positions?
Zoox sponsors a range of visa categories for operations talent, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your citizenship, degree field, and the specific operations role. E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens, and TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals under the USMCA.
What qualifications does Zoox expect for Operations roles?
Zoox operations roles typically require a bachelor's degree in a field such as industrial engineering, operations management, systems engineering, or a related discipline. Hands-on experience with fleet operations, hardware deployment, or technical program coordination in a physical environment carries significant weight. Familiarity with autonomous vehicle testing protocols, safety compliance frameworks, or real-world deployment logistics will differentiate your application.
How do I plan my timeline if I need visa sponsorship for a Zoox operations role?
Timeline depends heavily on your current status. If you're on F-1 OPT, USCIS requires your employment authorization to be active before your start date, so apply early enough to allow onboarding alignment. For H-1B transfers or new cap-subject filings, the standard USCIS processing window is several months, though premium processing can accelerate an approval to around 15 business days. TN and E-3 visas can often be processed at a consulate within weeks.
