Align your portfolio to autonomous systems
Zoox prioritizes engineers with experience in robotics, sensor fusion, motion planning, or real-time systems. Before applying, frame your projects and portfolio around safety-critical or embedded software work to match what their teams actually build.
Confirm your visa type fits Zoox's sponsorship scope
Zoox sponsors several nonimmigrant categories including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. If you're on OPT, verify your STEM extension eligibility early since Zoox is E-Verify enrolled, which is required for the 24-month STEM OPT extension.
Target Zoox's specialized engineering teams directly
Zoox hires Software Engineers across distinct verticals like prediction, planning, and infrastructure. Applying to a team whose technical domain matches your background increases your chance of clearing the screening stage before sponsorship conversations begin.
Prepare for H-1B cap timing before your offer stage
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Map your expected offer timeline against the lottery window so your employer isn't filing outside the registration period.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Zoox Software Engineer roles by visa type
Browsing job boards without sponsorship filters wastes time on roles you can't take. Migrate Mate lets you search Zoox's Software Engineer openings filtered by the visa categories they actively sponsor, so you apply where your status is already viable.
Get your degree equivalency documented before interviews
Zoox's Software Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. If your degree is from outside the U.S., have a credential evaluation completed before your interview loop so there's no delay when the immigration team starts your petition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Zoox sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Zoox sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineer roles. The company has a consistent sponsorship history across both cap-subject H-1B petitions and cap-exempt transfers. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, Zoox can file an H-1B transfer, which lets you start working as soon as USCIS receives the petition rather than waiting for approval.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Zoox?
Applications go through Zoox's careers portal, where Software Engineer roles are organized by team and technical domain. Tailor your resume to the specific team you're targeting, whether that's simulation, autonomy infrastructure, or safety systems. You can also browse and filter Zoox's open Software Engineer roles on Migrate Mate to identify which positions align with your visa category before applying.
Which visa types does Zoox commonly sponsor for Software Engineers?
Zoox sponsors a broad range of visa categories for Software Engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, current status, and role level.
What qualifications does Zoox expect for Software Engineer roles?
Most Software Engineer positions at Zoox require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. Beyond the degree, Zoox's roles tend to emphasize systems programming, experience with large-scale distributed infrastructure, or domain knowledge in areas like perception, planning, or vehicle simulation. Practical experience with C++ or Python in production environments is common across their job descriptions.
How does the sponsorship timeline work for a new Software Engineer hire at Zoox?
For F-1 OPT hires, sponsorship typically begins immediately since OPT work authorization is already in place. For cap-subject H-1B cases, Zoox would register you in the March lottery with an October 1 effective date. TN and E-3 petitions can move faster since they aren't subject to the annual cap and can be processed at a U.S. consulate without the same lead time. Your immigration attorney and Zoox's internal team coordinate filings directly.
