Align your resume to JPMorganChase's tech stack
JPMorganChase engineering teams heavily use Java, Python, and cloud-native platforms like AWS and Azure. Tailor your resume to reflect production-scale experience with these technologies, as their applicant filtering is highly technical before any recruiter screens you.
Target business lines with dedicated immigration resources
JPMorganChase's Corporate and Investment Bank and Consumer and Community Banking divisions each run large engineering organizations with in-house immigration counsel. Roles posted under these business lines are more likely to move smoothly through the sponsorship process than smaller satellite teams.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility before your first interview
JPMorganChase recruiters typically confirm visa sponsorship availability early in the process. Raise your status directly in the first recruiter call rather than waiting for an offer, so you're not deep in a loop for a position that can't support your visa type.
Understand which visa types JPMorganChase routinely files
Beyond the standard H-1B, JPMorganChase files E-3 petitions for Australian citizens and H-1B1 visa petitions for Chilean and Singaporean nationals. If you hold one of these nationalities, clarify which category applies to you, since E-3 and H-1B1 have no lottery and faster adjudication timelines.
Build your profile on Migrate Mate before applying
Search for Software Engineer roles at JPMorganChase filtered by your visa type on Migrate Mate. The platform surfaces active sponsorship-eligible listings so you're applying to positions already confirmed for international candidates, not guessing from a general careers page.
Prepare for PERM timing if you're targeting permanent residence
If you're on an H-1B and aiming for an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card through JPMorganChase, the PERM labor certification process can run 12 to 18 months before your I-140 is even filed. Ask your recruiter about the company's typical Green Card timelines during offer negotiation, not after you've accepted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does JPMorganChase sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineers and has done so consistently across multiple business lines. The company has dedicated immigration counsel who manage the petition process internally. Sponsorship availability varies by team and location, so confirming with your recruiter during the first screening call is the most reliable way to verify eligibility for a specific role.
Which visa types does JPMorganChase commonly sponsor for Software Engineer roles?
JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for most nationalities and also files H-1B1 visa petitions for citizens of Chile and Singapore and E-3 visa petitions for Australian citizens. For longer-term permanent residence, the company supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process. The right category for you depends on your nationality and career stage.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at JPMorganChase?
Start by browsing open Software Engineer positions on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're not applying blind. JPMorganChase's hiring process typically includes a recruiter screen, a technical phone interview, and a virtual or onsite system design and coding loop. Applying directly through the official JPMorganChase careers portal after identifying a role is the standard path.
What qualifications does JPMorganChase expect for sponsored Software Engineer positions?
JPMorganChase typically requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field for H-1B sponsorship, since the role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines. Beyond the degree, roles usually require demonstrated proficiency in languages like Java or Python, experience with distributed systems or cloud infrastructure, and in some teams, exposure to financial services environments.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap and JPMorganChase's hiring cycle?
The H-1B cap registration window opens each March, with an October 1 start date if selected. JPMorganChase typically ramps up Software Engineer hiring in the first quarter to align with this cycle. If you're on OPT, confirm your end date and whether you qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, which gives you additional runway if you're not selected in the lottery on the first attempt.
