INTRODUCTION
We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join the Adobe Express Mobile App team. We're looking for outstanding Android engineers with a passion for making creative tools that impact people’s lives and a keen curiosity for how agentic tools will transform how we develop software.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and implement major user-facing features in Kotlin or Swift, and sometimes Typescript in our hybrid web/native application stack.
Build intelligent agents that instrument code and analyze hard to pin down performance and stability metrics — spotting trends and anomalies a human would need days to surface.
Make the mobile app experience sing with features not achievable in the web stack alone.
Use AI-assisted and agentic coding tools to accelerate delivery: steer agents, critically review and validate generated output, and refactor into maintainable, production-quality code — without lowering the bar on craft.
Define quality planning for the entire app lifecycle, not just before release.
Collaborate with Product Management and Designers to define the product roadmap and assess new technologies.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of shipping software development experience, including commercial mobile applications developed using Kotlin or Swift
- Experience with TypeScript or Javascript development
- Driven to achieve objectives, with a keenness for picking up new technologies and adjusting promptly to evolving needs and surroundings
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, taking on multiple roles with autonomy and ownership
- Strong grasp of architectural patterns (MVC, MVVM), design patterns, and object-oriented programming
- Proven track record investigating complex, hard-to-reproduce issues in shipping software
- Experience with multi-threading programming and memory management
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation testing frameworks
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with hybrid web/native app development
- Familiarity with Lit, MobX, Web Components, and modern browser-based tech stack
- Experience working on mobile web apps, especially in resource-constrained environments

Align your portfolio to Adobe products
Adobe's engineering teams are organized around specific product lines. Tailoring your GitHub projects or portfolio to demonstrate experience with creative tooling, document processing, or marketing analytics signals direct relevance to the team you're targeting.
File your LCA before your start date
Adobe's HR team coordinates Labor Condition Application filings with DOL before your I-129 petition reaches USCIS. Confirm your intended start date early, since LCA approval is a prerequisite and any delay pushes your entire timeline back.
Target roles open to cap-exempt pathways
If you're currently on F-1 OPT or CPT, Adobe can hire you immediately without waiting for an H-1B lottery. Filtering for roles that specify OPT eligibility or STEM extension compatibility narrows your search to positions with the fastest path to an offer.
Prepare for system design interviews with distributed systems depth
Adobe's Senior Software Engineer rounds heavily test distributed systems, API design, and scalability. Candidates who've cleared these loops report that surface-level prep isn't enough. Focus on content delivery, cloud infrastructure, and microservices patterns specifically.
Browse Adobe's open Software Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces Adobe's Software Engineer postings filtered by visa sponsorship type, so you can confirm which roles are open to H-1B, E-3, or TN candidates before applying. It removes the guesswork about which positions have a sponsorship track record.
Request an amended H-1B petition when changing teams
If you're already at Adobe on an H-1B and transfer to a materially different role or location, USCIS requires an amended I-129. Confirm with Adobe's immigration team whether your new position triggers an amendment before your internal transfer is finalized.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Adobe sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Adobe sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineers and has done so consistently across product and platform engineering roles. For candidates on F-1 OPT, Adobe can hire before the lottery and file an H-1B visa petition during the annual cap registration window in March, targeting an October 1 start date if selected.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Adobe?
Apply directly through Adobe's careers portal, where roles are listed by product line and seniority level. You can also browse Adobe's Software Engineer openings on Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can focus on roles where international candidates have a clear path. Tailor your resume to the specific team's technology stack.
Which visa types does Adobe sponsor for Software Engineers?
Adobe sponsors H-1B, E-3 visa (for Australian citizens), TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT and CPT, J-1 visa, and immigrant visa categories including EB-2 and EB-3. The right visa depends on your nationality, current status, and career stage. Australian citizens in particular have a strong option with the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and no annual cap shortage.
What qualifications does Adobe expect for Software Engineer roles?
Most Software Engineer roles at Adobe require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. Senior levels typically expect several years of experience in languages like Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript, along with demonstrated knowledge of cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, or machine learning pipelines depending on the team. USCIS requires the role to meet specialty occupation standards, which Adobe's engineering positions consistently satisfy.
How do I plan my timeline if Adobe is sponsoring my visa?
If you're on F-1 OPT, Adobe can start the H-1B cap registration process while you're working legally. Cap-subject H-1B petitions follow a fixed federal calendar with registration in March and an October 1 start date. E-3 and TN visas move faster since there's no lottery. Plan your offer negotiation and onboarding timeline around these windows to avoid a gap in work authorization.
