About the Role
As a Technical Program Manager for Hardware NPI you'll drive execution across cross-functional teams spanning mechanical design, embedded systems, controls, and manufacturing operations. This is a high-ownership, mission-critical role with visibility across the entire hardware product lifecycle—from prototype through scaled deployment.
You will manage the introduction of complex robotic systems into production, define and enforce rigorous development and manufacturing milestones, and ensure seamless coordination across internal engineering and external supply chain partners.
This role is ideal for a TPM with deep technical fluency, comfort in ambiguity, and a proven track record delivering high-stakes, multidisciplinary hardware programs.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Own and drive complex hardware and autonomy programs from concept to production, with cross-functional scope across mechanical, electrical, GNC, and firmware systems.
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts, managing build plans, integration milestones, and transfer to contract manufacturing.
- Serve as the central node for coordinating design, manufacturing, validation, and supplier execution across multiple internal and external teams.
- Define and track program timelines, critical paths, and risk mitigation strategies across all technical disciplines.
- Partner with engineering leads to ensure technical decisions align with schedule and manufacturing constraints.
- Communicate program status, risks, and decisions to stakeholders at both engineering and executive levels.
- Help build robust manufacturing plans, including DFM/DFA alignment, pilot builds, and supply chain readiness.
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in hardware program management, with a track record of delivering complex electromechanical or robotics systems into production.
- Deep understanding of hardware product development processes, including PLM, PDP, and NPI methodologies.
- Hands-on experience working with contract manufacturers, from early development builds through to high-volume production.
- Familiarity with a range of manufacturing processes including PCBA (SMT), injection molding, die casting, and complex system integration.
- Excellent technical fluency, capable of facilitating trade-offs and understanding implications across ME, EE, firmware, and controls domains.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple workstreams, dependencies, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication and reporting skills; able to deliver clarity and alignment in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
- A Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in robotics, aerospace, or autonomy-focused product development.
- Familiarity with embedded software lifecycles and firmware-hardware integration.
- Experience coordinating high-reliability or safety-critical system manufacturing and validation.

Frame your PM credentials around delivery metrics
DoorDash interviews for Technical Project Managers emphasize measurable outcomes, not just process ownership. Quantify scope, velocity, and cross-team dependencies you managed before applying. Vague credentials slow down internal sponsorship approvals once an offer is extended.
Target DoorDash's logistics and merchant platform teams
Technical Project Manager openings at DoorDash cluster around fulfillment infrastructure, merchant integrations, and consumer experience. Aligning your resume to one of these verticals before you apply sharpens your fit signal and moves you faster through the hiring funnel.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open TPM roles by sponsorship
Not every Technical Project Manager listing at DoorDash is tagged for sponsorship in general job boards. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for visa-sponsored openings at DoorDash, so you're only spending time on roles where international candidates are genuinely welcome.
Prepare for USCIS specialty occupation scrutiny
H-1B petitions for Technical Project Manager roles can draw USCIS requests for evidence questioning whether the position meets specialty occupation standards. Request a detailed job description from DoorDash's recruiter and confirm it ties the role to a specific technical degree requirement.
Negotiate your start date around H-1B cap timelines
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS opens the registration window in March for an October 1 start. Tell DoorDash's recruiting team early so they can build that timeline into the offer. Missing the registration window means waiting an additional year.

Find Technical Project Manager at DoorDash JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does DoorDash sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Project Managers?
Yes, DoorDash sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Project Manager roles. Because TPM positions can attract USCIS scrutiny over specialty occupation status, DoorDash's legal team typically works with candidates to build a petition that clearly ties the role to a required technical discipline, such as computer science or engineering.
Which visa types does DoorDash commonly sponsor for Technical Project Manager roles?
DoorDash sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT for Technical Project Manager positions, along with immigrant pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality and status. Australian citizens often pursue the E-3, Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under TN, and most others apply through the H-1B.
What qualifications does DoorDash expect for Technical Project Manager roles?
DoorDash typically looks for a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, combined with hands-on experience managing cross-functional software or infrastructure projects. Familiarity with agile delivery, API integrations, or logistics platform development strengthens your application. Project management certifications help but rarely substitute for demonstrated technical depth.
How do I apply for Technical Project Manager jobs at DoorDash?
You can browse and apply for Technical Project Manager openings at DoorDash through Migrate Mate, which filters listings specifically for roles that sponsor work visas. Tailor your application to the specific platform team you're targeting, since DoorDash's TPM roles vary significantly across logistics, merchant, and consumer product verticals.
How do I plan my timeline when applying for a sponsored TPM role at DoorDash?
Timeline depends on your visa category. F-1 OPT can start relatively quickly once authorized. E-3 and TN can often be obtained within a few weeks of an offer. H-1B cap cases require USCIS lottery registration in March and a standard October 1 start, so discuss this with your DoorDash recruiter as early as possible to avoid delays.
