About the Role
As a Technical Program Manager for Hardware NPI you'll drive execution across cross-functional teams spanning mechanical design, embedded systems, controls, and manufacturing operations. This is a high-ownership, mission-critical role with visibility across the entire hardware product lifecycle—from prototype through scaled deployment.
You will manage the introduction of complex robotic systems into production, define and enforce rigorous development and manufacturing milestones, and ensure seamless coordination across internal engineering and external supply chain partners.
This role is ideal for a TPM with deep technical fluency, comfort in ambiguity, and a proven track record delivering high-stakes, multidisciplinary hardware programs.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Own and drive complex hardware and autonomy programs from concept to production, with cross-functional scope across mechanical, electrical, GNC, and firmware systems.
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts, managing build plans, integration milestones, and transfer to contract manufacturing.
- Serve as the central node for coordinating design, manufacturing, validation, and supplier execution across multiple internal and external teams.
- Define and track program timelines, critical paths, and risk mitigation strategies across all technical disciplines.
- Partner with engineering leads to ensure technical decisions align with schedule and manufacturing constraints.
- Communicate program status, risks, and decisions to stakeholders at both engineering and executive levels.
- Help build robust manufacturing plans, including DFM/DFA alignment, pilot builds, and supply chain readiness.
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in hardware program management, with a track record of delivering complex electromechanical or robotics systems into production.
- Deep understanding of hardware product development processes, including PLM, PDP, and NPI methodologies.
- Hands-on experience working with contract manufacturers, from early development builds through to high-volume production.
- Familiarity with a range of manufacturing processes including PCBA (SMT), injection molding, die casting, and complex system integration.
- Excellent technical fluency, capable of facilitating trade-offs and understanding implications across ME, EE, firmware, and controls domains.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple workstreams, dependencies, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication and reporting skills; able to deliver clarity and alignment in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
- A Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in robotics, aerospace, or autonomy-focused product development.
- Familiarity with embedded software lifecycles and firmware-hardware integration.
- Experience coordinating high-reliability or safety-critical system manufacturing and validation.

Frame your credentials around engineering leadership scope
DoorDash Technical Managers are expected to lead cross-functional engineering teams, not just manage individual contributors. Before applying, document specific examples of team scaling, architecture decisions, and delivery outcomes. USCIS specialty occupation standards require your degree to align directly with the role.
Target roles on DoorDash's logistics and platform teams
DoorDash hires Technical Managers most actively across its merchant, consumer, and logistics infrastructure pillars. Identifying which pillar matches your engineering background sharpens your application and signals domain fit to hiring managers who prioritize relevant system experience.
Search open Technical Manager roles using Migrate Mate
Filter for DoorDash Technical Manager openings by visa type on Migrate Mate to surface roles that explicitly align with your sponsorship needs. This saves time compared to parsing job descriptions manually for sponsorship language.
Clarify your visa type before the offer stage
DoorDash sponsors multiple visa categories for Technical Managers, including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. Knowing which category applies to your situation before negotiations start prevents delays. Your status determines whether DoorDash files with USCIS or processes through a consular post.
Account for H-1B cap timing in your job search calendar
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start date. Targeting DoorDash Technical Manager roles six to nine months before that window gives your recruiter enough runway to prepare the petition before the filing deadline.
Prepare a DOL-compliant work history record early
DoorDash's immigration team files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting any H-1B or E-3 petition. Having a clean, verified employment history with accurate dates and job titles ready reduces back-and-forth and keeps your petition timeline on track.

Does DoorDash sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Managers?
Yes, DoorDash sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Manager roles. The process requires DoorDash to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then submit a petition to USCIS. If you need a cap-subject H-1B, your start date will be tied to the October 1 fiscal year, so timing your offer and registration accordingly is important.
How do I apply for Technical Manager jobs at DoorDash?
You can browse and apply for Technical Manager roles at DoorDash directly through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship type. Applications typically go through DoorDash's recruiting team, and the interview process includes a hiring manager screen, a technical leadership round focused on system design and team management, and a final loop with senior engineering leadership.
Which visa types does DoorDash commonly use for Technical Manager roles?
DoorDash sponsors a broad range of visa categories for Technical Managers, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, and Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, education, and career stage.
What qualifications does DoorDash expect for Technical Manager candidates?
DoorDash typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, paired with hands-on experience managing engineering teams at scale. Demonstrated ownership of complex, high-traffic systems is valued. For visa purposes, your degree must align with the specialty occupation definition USCIS applies to the role.
How do I plan my timeline if I need visa sponsorship for a DoorDash Technical Manager role?
Timeline depends on your visa category. E-3 and TN petitions can be processed in weeks, while cap-subject H-1B petitions are tied to the October 1 start date with USCIS registration in March. If DoorDash files for a Green Card through PERM, expect 18 to 24 months for labor certification alone. Align your offer negotiation to account for whichever process applies to your situation.
