Tips for Finding Electrical Engineer Jobs at Zoox
Align your credentials to autonomous vehicle systems
Zoox hires electrical engineers for hardware domains like sensor integration, power electronics, and embedded systems. Framing your resume around robotics or automotive safety work signals fit for the roles where they actively sponsor, not just general EE backgrounds.
Target roles mapped to your visa category
Zoox sponsors across H-1B, E-3, TN, and OPT categories. Search open roles by specialty area first, then confirm the job description supports a specialty occupation determination, since hardware and systems engineering roles tend to meet that standard more cleanly than generalist titles.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Zoox openings by sponsorship type
Not all Zoox postings signal visa support equally. Migrate Mate lets you browse current Electrical Engineer openings at Zoox filtered by the visa categories they sponsor, so you can target applications where your authorization path is confirmed.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
If your electrical engineering degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation before you receive an offer. USCIS scrutinizes foreign degree equivalency for specialty occupation petitions, and having documentation ready prevents offer-to-filing delays.
Clarify OPT cap-gap timing before your start date
If you're on F-1 OPT and your program end date falls before October 1, confirm with Zoox's immigration team that your H-1B petition was filed by April 1. A timely filing extends your work authorization through the cap-gap period automatically.
Ask about LCA wage level during offer negotiation
Before signing, ask which DOL wage level your offer is pegged to in the Labor Condition Application. For senior electrical engineering roles at an autonomous vehicle company, a Level I wage designation can flag misclassification risk and create complications at the H-1B petition stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Zoox sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, Zoox sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers. Their hardware and systems engineering roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, which is the core requirement for H-1B eligibility. If you're subject to the annual cap, your employer needs to file by April 1 for an October 1 start. Zoox also sponsors H-1B transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at Zoox?
Apply directly through Zoox's careers portal, or browse current openings filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate. Zoox's Electrical Engineer roles span hardware design, power systems, and sensor integration. Tailoring your application to the specific sub-discipline in the job description, rather than submitting a generic resume, gives you a meaningful edge in a competitive candidate pool.
Which visa types does Zoox commonly sponsor for Electrical Engineers?
Zoox sponsors a broad range of visa categories for Electrical Engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa, E-3 visa, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3. Australian citizens can pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is generally faster to process. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under TN visa. Each category has distinct eligibility criteria and timelines.
What qualifications does Zoox expect for Electrical Engineer roles?
Zoox typically expects a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Roles in autonomous vehicle development often require depth in areas like embedded systems, PCB design, high-voltage power electronics, or sensor hardware. For USCIS specialty occupation purposes, your degree field needs to directly relate to the specific role, not just engineering broadly.
How do I navigate the visa filing timeline after receiving an offer from Zoox?
Once you have an offer, Zoox's immigration team typically coordinates with outside counsel to file the Labor Condition Application with DOL first, which must be certified before the USCIS petition is submitted. For cap-subject H-1B cases, registration opens in March and employment can't begin before October 1. Build at least six to eight months of buffer between your offer date and intended start date if you're cap-subject.
