Align your credentials to Siemens divisions
Siemens organizes engineering hiring across distinct business units, including Smart Infrastructure and Digital Industries. Tailor your resume to the specific division you're targeting, because hiring teams evaluate candidates against the technical stack of that unit, not Siemens broadly.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before applying
As a federal contractor, Siemens is enrolled in E-Verify, which means any sponsored hire must have work authorization that clears the system. Verify your current status documents are complete and consistent before your application moves to HR screening.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship type
Siemens posts Electrical Engineer roles across multiple locations, and sponsorship availability can differ by position and business unit. Use Migrate Mate to browse current openings filtered specifically for visa sponsorship, so you're targeting roles where sponsorship is confirmed.
Request H-1B cap-exempt status through affiliated entities
Some Siemens consulting engagements are placed with government or nonprofit clients, which may create cap-exempt H-1B filing opportunities. Ask your recruiter early whether the role qualifies, since cap-exempt filings can be submitted any time without waiting for the October 1 start date.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
USCIS requires that H-1B specialty occupation petitions establish a direct relationship between your degree field and the engineering role. If your degree is in a related but not identical discipline, obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization before your offer stage.
Factor PERM timelines into your employment start planning
If Siemens initiates a green card through the EB-2 or EB-3 PERM process, DOL adjudication can take 12 months or longer in the current backlog environment. Discuss green card intent with your hiring manager during offer negotiations, not after your first H-1B approval.

Does Siemens sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, Siemens sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers across multiple business units, including Smart Infrastructure and Digital Industries. Sponsorship eligibility can vary by role, location, and the specific division hiring. Confirming sponsorship availability for a specific posting before investing heavily in the application process is the most practical approach.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at Siemens?
Applications go through Siemens' careers portal, where you can filter by job family and location. For international candidates, Migrate Mate lists Siemens Electrical Engineer roles with visa sponsorship confirmed, which helps you avoid applying to positions where sponsorship isn't available. Tailoring your resume to the specific Siemens business unit increases your chances of clearing the initial screening.
Which visa types does Siemens commonly use for Electrical Engineer hires?
Siemens sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization pathway for Electrical Engineers. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles, and J-1 for eligible exchange visitors. For longer-term employment, Siemens initiates EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card processes for qualified engineers.
What qualifications does Siemens expect for Electrical Engineer roles?
Most Electrical Engineer positions at Siemens require a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Roles in power systems, industrial automation, or smart building controls often expect hands-on experience with specific platforms such as Siemens SIMATIC, SCADA systems, or medium-voltage switchgear. For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS requires that your degree field directly corresponds to the specialty occupation duties in the job description.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Siemens Electrical Engineer offer?
For H-1B sponsorship, the standard timeline runs from lottery selection in March through an October 1 start date, roughly six months from registration to employment. Premium processing through USCIS shortens adjudication to 15 business days once the petition is filed. If you're on F-1 OPT, Siemens can bring you on immediately while the H-1B process runs in parallel, provided your OPT authorization covers the gap.
