Align your hardware specialty to Apple's product lines
Apple hires electrical engineers across distinct verticals: silicon design, power management, RF systems, and sensor integration. Tailoring your resume and portfolio to a specific product family, like iPhone or Apple Silicon, signals fit before your first screening call.
Verify your degree field supports specialty occupation classification
USCIS requires your degree to align directly with the role. For electrical engineering positions at a hardware-focused company like Apple, a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field avoids RFE risk during H-1B adjudication.
Target teams that file across multiple visa categories
Apple sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and H-1B1 visas for engineering roles. If you're Australian or Canadian, proactively flag your nationality early in recruiting. These categories don't require lottery selection and can move faster than standard H-1B cap-subject petitions.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
Apple posts Electrical Engineer roles across hardware, silicon, and systems teams simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter active openings by the visa categories Apple sponsors, so you're applying to roles where your work authorization pathway is already supported.
Prepare for technical depth in hardware interviews
Apple's engineering interviews go deep on circuit design, signal integrity, and system-level tradeoffs. Demonstrating hands-on lab experience and familiarity with Apple's product constraints, not just theoretical knowledge, is what advances candidates through the loop.
Understand OPT timing before your offer is extended
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM OPT extension is filed and approved before your standard OPT expires. Apple's onboarding timelines for engineering roles can run several months, and a gap in work authorization delays your start date or voids the offer.

Find Electrical Engineer at Apple JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineer roles. Apple participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery for new petitions and also files cap-exempt petitions where applicable. For cap-subject candidates, the lottery runs in March for an October 1 start date, so aligning your offer timeline with that cycle matters.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at Apple?
Applications go through Apple's careers portal at jobs.apple.com. Search by role type and hardware discipline, since openings are organized by product team. Migrate Mate also aggregates Apple's Electrical Engineer postings filtered by visa sponsorship type, which helps you identify roles where your specific visa category is supported before applying.
Which visa types does Apple commonly use for Electrical Engineer roles?
Apple files H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, TN, and Green Card petitions (EB-2 and EB-3) for engineering roles. H-1B is the most common path for non-treaty nationals. Australians are frequently sponsored on E-3 visas, and Canadians and Mexicans on TN status, both of which bypass the cap and lottery.
What qualifications does Apple expect for Electrical Engineer roles?
Apple typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field. Senior roles expect hands-on experience in areas like power electronics, RF design, mixed-signal circuits, or PCB layout. Familiarity with simulation tools and prior experience shipping consumer hardware products strengthens your profile significantly.
How do I time the visa filing process when accepting an offer from Apple?
For H-1B cap-subject petitions, USCIS registration opens in March and the earliest employment start date is October 1. Apple's recruiting team is experienced with this window. For E-3 and TN candidates, filings can happen year-round with faster turnaround. Confirm your current status expiration date with Apple's immigration team before signing your offer.
