Align your portfolio to Apple Silicon hardware
Apple's electrical engineering roles increasingly center on custom silicon bring-up, power management ICs, and high-speed interfaces like PCIe and USB4. Tailor your resume and portfolio to reflect hands-on experience with these systems before applying.
Target teams with active LCA filings
Apple files Labor Condition Applications with the DOL before sponsoring any work visa. Searching DOL OFLC disclosure data for Apple's active LCA filings reveals which hardware teams and locations are actively hiring sponsored engineers right now.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
Apple sponsors H-1B, E-3, H-1B1 visa, and TN visas for electrical engineers. Knowing which category fits your passport before negotiations means you can ask the right questions about timing and avoid surprises when the offer letter arrives.
Use Migrate Mate to find open sponsorship-eligible roles
Not all Apple job postings explicitly state visa sponsorship availability. Browse Electrical Systems Engineer openings at Apple on Migrate Mate to filter for roles where sponsorship has been confirmed, saving you time spent chasing positions that won't move forward.
Prepare your credentials for specialty occupation review
USCIS requires that H-1B petitions demonstrate a direct relationship between your degree field and the role. For electrical systems work at Apple, a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field strengthens the specialty occupation determination significantly.
Account for Apple's hardware release cycles in your timeline
Apple's hardware teams ramp hiring ahead of internal tape-out and product development milestones. Starting your application process early gives your employer enough runway to file and receive USCIS approval before your current work authorization expires.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Systems Engineers?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Systems Engineers. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines because it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a directly related field. Apple has an established immigration team that manages the petition process, including the required Labor Condition Application filed with the DOL prior to submission.
How do I apply for Electrical Systems Engineer jobs at Apple?
Applications go through Apple's careers portal at jobs.apple.com. Search for Electrical Systems Engineer or related titles like Hardware Engineer or Power Systems Engineer. Roles are posted by team and product line, so filtering by hardware or silicon engineering groups narrows the results. You can also browse sponsorship-confirmed openings at Apple on Migrate Mate before applying directly through Apple's site.
Which visa types does Apple commonly use for Electrical Systems Engineers?
Apple sponsors H-1B visas for most nationalities, along with the E-3 visa for Australian citizens and the H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals. Canadian and Mexican engineers may be eligible for TN visa status in the engineer category. For longer-term employees, Apple also supports Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based preference categories.
What qualifications does Apple expect for Electrical Systems Engineer roles?
Most postings require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with senior roles expecting a master's or equivalent industry experience. Practical depth in areas like power integrity, signal integrity, battery management systems, or PCB design is expected. Experience with Apple-specific technologies such as custom ASIC bring-up, high-speed serial interfaces, or mixed-signal circuit design makes candidates significantly more competitive in the review process.
How do I plan my timeline if I need Apple to sponsor my visa?
If you need H-1B sponsorship, the annual cap registration window opens in March and the fiscal year begins October 1, meaning there can be a gap of six months or more between registration and your start date. E-3 and TN visas have no annual cap and can be processed faster. Discuss your current authorization expiration with Apple's recruiting team early so they can plan the filing timeline accordingly.
