Align your credentials to U.S. engineering standards
Arcadis projects often require work on regulated infrastructure, so having or pursuing a PE license signals serious intent to U.S. hiring managers. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get it evaluated by a NACES-recognized credential assessment service before applying.
Target Arcadis offices near major infrastructure projects
Arcadis staffs electrical engineers closest to active project delivery, especially in energy transition and water infrastructure. Offices in cities with large public works pipelines, like Houston, Denver, or New York, see more consistent electrical engineering hiring than smaller regional offices.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Arcadis roles by visa type
Arcadis posts roles across multiple lines of business, and not every position is actively set up for sponsorship. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for Arcadis openings where visa sponsorship is confirmed, saving time on applications that won't go anywhere.
Understand how Arcadis structures the LCA before your offer
Before Arcadis can file your H-1B petition, your employer must submit a Labor Condition Application to the DOL certifying your offered wage meets the prevailing wage for your location and role level. Knowing this step exists helps you ask informed questions during the offer stage.
Frame your specialty occupation case around project deliverables
For H-1B approval, USCIS requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Electrical systems engineering at a consulting firm like Arcadis typically qualifies, but your application is stronger when the job description references project complexity, design standards, and degree-specific technical requirements.
Account for H-1B cap timing when negotiating your start date
Cap-subject H-1B petitions have an October 1 start date. If Arcadis extends you an offer outside the filing window, your start date could be 6 to 12 months away. Build this into any conversation about timelines so neither side is caught off guard.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Arcadis sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Systems Engineers?
Yes, Arcadis sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Systems Engineers. As a large infrastructure and consulting firm with engineering operations across the U.S., Arcadis has an established sponsorship process. Electrical systems engineering typically meets the USCIS specialty occupation standard, which requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field directly related to the role.
How do I apply for Electrical Systems Engineer jobs at Arcadis?
You can search and apply for Electrical Systems Engineer roles directly through the Arcadis careers portal, or use Migrate Mate to browse Arcadis openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific project type listed, whether that's power systems, building electrification, or infrastructure delivery, since Arcadis hiring teams are practice-specific.
Which visa types does Arcadis typically use for Electrical Systems Engineers?
Arcadis sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Card categories including EB-2 and EB-3 for engineering roles. H-1B is the most common path for full-time hires. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals under the USMCA. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for students transitioning from academic programs into full-time roles.
What qualifications does Arcadis expect for Electrical Systems Engineer roles?
Arcadis typically expects a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field, along with project experience relevant to the practice area you're applying to, such as power distribution, control systems, or building systems. A Professional Engineer license is valued, particularly for roles involving design sign-off on regulated infrastructure projects. Proficiency with industry-standard design tools is commonly expected.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Arcadis?
Timeline depends on your visa type. For cap-subject H-1B petitions, USCIS opens registration in March, with a lottery in April and an October 1 start date if selected. Standard processing runs 3 to 6 months after filing. USCIS premium processing reduces that to 15 business days. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border on the day of travel with the right documents in hand.
