Align your portfolio to infrastructure projects
Arcadis operates at the intersection of engineering consulting and digital transformation. Emphasize software design work tied to infrastructure systems, asset management, or built-environment platforms. Generic SaaS portfolio pieces are harder for their hiring teams to evaluate.
Confirm your visa category before applying
Arcadis sponsors across several nonimmigrant categories. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM OPT extension eligibility before your interview stage, since a short remaining OPT window can complicate the H-1B cap-gap filing timeline for consulting firms.
Raise sponsorship in the offer stage not earlier
Consulting firms like Arcadis typically finalize sponsorship decisions during offer negotiation. Mentioning visa needs during early screening shifts focus away from your qualifications. Wait until you have a verbal offer before asking which visa category they intend to file.
Understand how the LCA affects your start date
For H-1B transfers or new cap-exempt filings, your employer submits a Labor Condition Application to the DOL before USCIS processing begins. At a firm with Arcadis's project staffing cycle, this timeline affects when you can realistically be placed on client work.
Target roles tied to long-term client engagements
Arcadis staffs Software Design Engineers on multi-year infrastructure programs. Roles embedded in long-running client contracts are more likely to justify the cost and complexity of employer-sponsored Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 PERM down the line.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open roles by visa type
Filtering job listings by visa sponsorship category saves you from applying to postings where your status isn't supported. Migrate Mate surfaces Arcadis Software Design Engineer roles specifically filtered for sponsored visa types, so you target positions that fit your situation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Arcadis sponsor H-1B visas for Software Design Engineers?
Yes, Arcadis sponsors H-1B visas for Software Design Engineers. As a global consulting firm with U.S. operations, Arcadis has an established process for H-1B petitions, including both new cap-subject filings and transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer. Sponsorship is typically confirmed during the offer stage, so you should expect to discuss your visa situation with the recruiting team after receiving a verbal offer.
How do I apply for Software Design Engineer jobs at Arcadis?
You can browse and apply for Software Design Engineer positions at Arcadis through Migrate Mate, which filters listings specifically for roles open to visa-sponsored candidates. When applying, tailor your application to Arcadis's consulting context by highlighting software design experience relevant to infrastructure, digital engineering, or built-environment systems. Arcadis's recruiting process typically includes technical assessments and panel interviews before an offer is extended.
Which visa types does Arcadis commonly use for Software Design Engineer roles?
Arcadis sponsors a range of visa categories for Software Design Engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, education level, and current immigration status, which you should clarify with Arcadis's HR team during the offer process.
What qualifications does Arcadis expect for Software Design Engineer roles?
Arcadis typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, since these roles must qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B standards. Beyond credentials, Arcadis values experience with software systems that integrate with physical infrastructure, such as GIS platforms, digital twin tools, asset management systems, or engineering simulation environments. Practical experience on complex, multi-stakeholder projects strengthens your candidacy considerably.
How do I understand the timeline for H-1B sponsorship at Arcadis?
If you need a new H-1B cap-subject petition, USCIS opens the registration window each March for an October 1 start date. Arcadis would need to register you in March, and if selected, file your full petition by June. If you're transferring an existing H-1B to Arcadis, you can start working once USCIS receives the petition, without waiting for approval. STEM OPT holders should plan for cap-gap coverage if their OPT expires between April and September.
