Align your portfolio to connectivity hardware
Molex builds connectors, sensors, and electronic components for industrial and apparel-adjacent manufacturing. Tailor your engineering portfolio to show firmware, embedded systems, or hardware-software integration experience before you apply. Generic software portfolios get passed over.
Clarify your visa status in applications
Molex sponsors multiple visa categories, so stating your current status and authorization type upfront saves time on both sides. If you're on F-1 OPT, note your OPT end date and STEM extension eligibility so the hiring team can map your timeline against their filing schedule.
Target roles listing hardware or firmware requirements
Not every Software Design Engineer opening at Molex involves the same scope. Roles tied to product development and embedded systems are more likely to sit in teams with established sponsorship workflows than general IT-adjacent postings. Filter job listings with that distinction in mind.
Understand H-1B cap timing before accepting
If you need a new H-1B petition, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer in summer, your start date may need to be deferred a full year unless you qualify for a cap-exempt pathway or are transferring an existing H-1B.
Prepare a degree equivalency evaluation early
H-1B specialty occupation petitions require your degree to directly align with the Software Design Engineer role. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization before the offer stage so the employer's immigration counsel has it ready.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active openings
Molex posts Software Design Engineer roles across multiple locations at different times of year. Use Migrate Mate to filter active openings by visa sponsorship type so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed, not guessing from a generic job listing.

Find Software Design Engineer at Molex JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Molex sponsor H-1B visas for Software Design Engineers?
Yes, Molex sponsors H-1B visas for Software Design Engineers. The company has a consistent history of filing H-1B petitions for engineering roles, and Software Design Engineer positions fall within the specialty occupation criteria USCIS requires. If you're on OPT or holding an existing H-1B, Molex can work with both new petitions and transfers, though timing around the annual cap lottery matters for new filings.
How do I apply for Software Design Engineer jobs at Molex?
Applications go through Molex's careers portal. Search for Software Design Engineer roles filtered by location, since Molex operates across multiple U.S. sites. Before applying, confirm the posting reflects the technical scope you specialize in, whether that's embedded systems, firmware, or hardware integration. You can also browse visa-sponsorship-confirmed openings at Molex through Migrate Mate to avoid roles that don't align with your authorization needs.
Which visa types does Molex commonly use for Software Design Engineer roles?
Molex sponsors H-1B visas most commonly for Software Design Engineers, alongside EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term hires. F-1 OPT and CPT are supported for students and recent graduates, and TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. J-1 sponsorship is also an option in certain training or research-adjacent contexts.
What qualifications does Molex expect for Software Design Engineer candidates?
Molex typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science for Software Design Engineer roles. Hands-on experience with embedded systems, firmware development, or hardware-software co-design is strongly preferred given the company's product focus on connectors and electronic components. For H-1B purposes, your degree field needs to align directly with the role's technical requirements as defined in the job description.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Software Design Engineer at Molex?
Timeline depends on your visa category. H-1B transfers from an existing petition can allow you to start within 30 to 60 days of filing. New H-1B cap petitions require USCIS lottery registration in March and carry an October 1 start date if selected. Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification typically adds 18 months or more before priority date movement. Premium processing through USCIS can reduce H-1B adjudication to roughly 15 business days.
