Frame your credentials around client-facing outcomes
Arcadis evaluates BD consultants on pipeline development and sector expertise, not just general consulting experience. Quantify wins like contracts sourced or partnerships built before you apply, because those metrics speak directly to what hiring managers screen for.
Target Arcadis's infrastructure and sustainability verticals
Arcadis clusters BD hiring around water, transportation, and environmental services. Tailor your resume to one of these practice areas rather than positioning yourself as a generalist, which tends to stall in their screening process.
Verify your visa category fits a specialty occupation
H-1B eligibility requires your BD role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning a bachelor's degree in a specific field must be a genuine job requirement. Consulting firms sometimes define BD roles broadly, so confirm the job description reflects a degree-specific requirement before accepting an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open BD roles at Arcadis
Arcadis posts BD consultant openings across multiple regions and practice areas at different times of year. Migrate Mate filters Arcadis listings by visa sponsorship type so you can find roles aligned with your status without manually sorting through unsponsored postings.
Align your offer timing with the H-1B cap calendar
If you need H-1B sponsorship, Arcadis must file your petition during the USCIS registration window that opens each March for an October 1 start date. Targeting an offer by late January gives HR enough runway to prepare the Labor Condition Application through DOL before registration opens.
Ask specifically how Arcadis handles PERM for BD roles
Business development functions can present challenges in PERM labor market testing because the duties overlap with sales, which DOL scrutinizes in professional services contexts. Ask your recruiter early whether Arcadis has a defined EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship pathway for this role, not just H-1B.

Does Arcadis sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Consultants?
Yes, Arcadis sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Consultants. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria when the position requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business, engineering, or environmental science. Sponsorship is most straightforward when the job description clearly ties the required degree to the core duties of the role.
How do I apply for Business Development Consultant jobs at Arcadis?
Applications go through Arcadis's careers portal, where you can filter by location and practice area. You can also browse visa-sponsored Business Development Consultant openings at Arcadis directly on Migrate Mate, which surfaces only roles where sponsorship is available. Tailoring your application to a specific Arcadis vertical, such as water infrastructure or sustainable transportation, increases your chances of moving past initial screening.
Which visa types does Arcadis commonly use for Business Development Consultant roles?
Arcadis sponsors several visa categories for this function, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1 for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for long-term hires. The right category depends on your nationality, educational background, and where you are in your career.
What qualifications does Arcadis expect for Business Development Consultant candidates?
Arcadis typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, combined with demonstrable experience developing client relationships or winning contracts in infrastructure, environmental, or sustainability sectors. Candidates with sector-specific knowledge in water, transportation, or resilience tend to stand out. An advanced degree can strengthen an EB-2 sponsorship case if you pursue permanent residence later.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Business Development Consultant at Arcadis?
Timeline varies by visa type. H-1B requires USCIS lottery selection in March with an October 1 employment start, so the process spans roughly six to eight months from offer to work authorization. TN status for Canadians can be obtained at the border in a single day. F-1 OPT authorization typically takes two to three months through USCIS after your school files the I-20 recommendation, so apply early to avoid a gap in work authorization.
