Frame your credentials around billable outcomes
Walker Consultants evaluates business development candidates on revenue impact, not just activity. Before applying, document specific client wins, pipeline values you influenced, and contracts you closed so your resume speaks directly to consulting firm hiring criteria.
Target open roles across multiple office locations
Walker Consultants operates across numerous U.S. offices, and sponsorship decisions often sit at the practice or regional level. Applying to multiple Business Development Consultant postings increases your chances of landing with a team that has active hiring authority.
Clarify your visa category early in interviews
Consulting firms distinguish between H-1B cap-subject petitions and TN or F-1 OPT transfers, which carry different timelines. If you're on OPT, confirm your STEM extension eligibility before your offer stage so Walker Consultants HR can plan the filing sequence accurately.
Align your degree field to the specialty occupation standard
USCIS requires H-1B petitions to establish a direct nexus between your degree and the role. For a Business Development Consultant position, degrees in business administration, marketing, or economics typically satisfy this requirement. A mismatched degree can trigger a Request for Evidence.
Build a pipeline of Walker Consultants openings using Migrate Mate
Business Development Consultant openings at Walker Consultants are posted across multiple channels at different times. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track Walker Consultants roles that actively offer visa sponsorship so you can apply as soon as new positions open.
Negotiate your start date around the H-1B October 1 window
If Walker Consultants files an H-1B on your behalf, your employment start date cannot precede October 1 of the relevant fiscal year. Structure your offer negotiation to account for this, especially if you're transitioning off OPT or another status mid-year.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Walker Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Consultants?
Yes, Walker Consultants sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Consultant roles. The firm has an established pattern of filing work visa petitions for this function, which signals that sponsorship is a known part of their hiring process rather than an exception. You should confirm sponsorship availability directly during the interview process, as it can vary by practice area or office.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development Consultant roles at Walker Consultants?
Walker Consultants sponsors H-1B visas for skilled professionals and supports Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications for longer-term hires. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT can often begin work before an H-1B is filed, and Canadian or Mexican nationals may qualify for TN visa status if their degree and role meet the relevant criteria under the USMCA.
How do I apply for Business Development Consultant jobs at Walker Consultants?
You can find and apply for Business Development Consultant openings at Walker Consultants through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship availability so you can focus on positions where you're actually eligible. Walker Consultants posts roles across multiple office locations, so searching broadly by role title rather than a single city will surface the most options.
What qualifications and experience does Walker Consultants expect for Business Development Consultant roles?
Walker Consultants typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, combined with demonstrated experience generating revenue or managing client relationships in a professional services environment. For H-1B sponsorship purposes, your degree field must align with the role's specialty occupation definition under USCIS standards, so a directly relevant degree strengthens both your application and the petition.
How do I plan my timeline if Walker Consultants is sponsoring my H-1B?
If you're starting on F-1 OPT, Walker Consultants would typically file your H-1B petition in April for an October 1 start. USCIS runs a lottery for cap-subject petitions, so selection isn't guaranteed. Premium processing is available to expedite USCIS adjudication to roughly 15 business days once selected. Factor in at least six months between offer acceptance and your H-1B work authorization start date.
