Frame Your Sales Experience Around Technology Solutions
CDW's Business Development Consultants sell hardware, software, and managed services to business clients. Tailor your resume to highlight B2B technology sales, account growth metrics, and solution-selling experience so your background maps directly to what their hiring teams are screening for.
Confirm Sponsorship Eligibility Before Applying
Not every open Business Development Consultant requisition at CDW will include sponsorship. Ask directly during the recruiter screen whether the specific role supports H-1B transfer or new H-1B filing, so you don't advance through multiple interview rounds before a mismatch surfaces.
Understand How CDW Structures the LCA for Sales Roles
Because Business Development Consultants often work at client sites, CDW may need to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL listing multiple work locations. Confirm with their HR team which worksite address will appear on your LCA to avoid status complications later.
Use Migrate Mate to Identify Active Sponsoring Requisitions
CDW posts Business Development Consultant openings across multiple regions, and sponsorship availability varies by location and team. Use Migrate Mate to filter for CDW roles that align with your visa type and current authorization status before submitting applications.
Prepare for PERM if You're Targeting Permanent Residency
CDW sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for eligible employees, but the PERM labor certification process through the DOL typically begins after you've established performance in the role. Ask during offer negotiation how long employees are expected to work before the company initiates a Green Card filing.

Does CDW sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Consultants?
Yes, CDW sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Consultants, including both cap-subject petitions and transfers from existing H-1B holders. Sponsorship eligibility can vary by region and the specific team hiring, so confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process rather than assuming it applies to every open role.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development Consultant roles at CDW?
CDW supports several work visa categories for this role, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students in qualifying degree programs. For candidates pursuing permanent residency, CDW has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process for eligible Business Development Consultants.
What qualifications and experience does CDW expect for Business Development Consultant roles?
CDW generally looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree and demonstrated B2B sales experience, ideally in technology products or services. Familiarity with solution selling, experience managing mid-market or enterprise accounts, and the ability to meet revenue targets are consistent requirements. Roles are quota-carrying, so a track record of hitting sales goals carries significant weight in hiring decisions.
How do I apply for Business Development Consultant jobs at CDW?
You can browse and apply for Business Development Consultant openings at CDW through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify positions that match your current authorization. When you apply, tailor your resume to CDW's technology solutions focus and be prepared to discuss your sales pipeline experience and any territory or vertical you've worked in previously.
How do I manage my visa status during the CDW hiring and onboarding timeline?
If you're transferring an H-1B, CDW can file a portability petition and you can begin work once the petition is received by USCIS, without waiting for approval. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date against CDW's expected start date and any H-1B cap-gap provisions that might apply. Align your offer acceptance and onboarding date carefully to avoid any gap in work authorization.
