Focus on technical and IT roles first
CDW's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technology-facing positions, think solutions architects, software engineers, and IT consultants. Targeting these roles puts you in the strongest position to receive a sponsorship offer from CDW's hiring teams.
Understand CDW's Green Card preference
CDW sponsors a significantly higher proportion of permanent residency cases than temporary work visas. If you're thinking long-term, this is a strong signal that CDW invests in retaining international talent through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways, not just short-term placements.
Highlight specialty occupation alignment on your resume
CDW sponsors H-1B visas for roles that clearly meet the specialty occupation standard. Make sure your resume explicitly connects your degree field to your target role, vague degree-to-job alignment is one of the most common reasons H-1B sponsorship gets declined at the offer stage.
Canadian and Mexican candidates should mention TN eligibility
CDW sponsors TN visas, which are faster and simpler than H-1B for qualifying roles. If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, proactively raising TN eligibility during early conversations can make sponsorship discussions significantly smoother with CDW recruiters.
Use OPT or CPT to get a foot in the door
CDW hires F-1 students on OPT and CPT, which gives international candidates a practical way to join before full H-1B sponsorship. Performing well during OPT is one of the most reliable paths to a long-term sponsored role at a company like CDW.
Filter for verified sponsors before you apply
Not every job posting reflects real sponsorship willingness. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving time and letting you focus on CDW roles where sponsorship is genuinely on the table.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does CDW sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, CDW sponsors H-1B visas, though its sponsorship activity skews more heavily toward permanent residency than temporary work visas. H-1B sponsorship at CDW is most common in technical roles where there is a clear specialty occupation requirement. If you're targeting CDW for H-1B sponsorship, focus on roles in software engineering, IT consulting, or solutions architecture where the degree-to-job connection is explicit.
What visa types does CDW sponsor?
CDW sponsors H-1B, TN visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT for work authorization, along with EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for permanent residency. Its sponsorship program covers both early-career candidates on student visas and experienced professionals pursuing long-term U.S. residency. Canadian and Mexican nationals may find TN visa sponsorship a particularly accessible entry point given the simpler process compared to H-1B.
Which roles at CDW are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
CDW's sponsored roles are concentrated in technology and IT functions, software engineers, solutions architects, IT consultants, and similar technical positions. Sales engineering and pre-sales roles with a technical component have also been sponsored. Roles in operations, logistics, or non-technical corporate functions are less commonly associated with CDW's sponsorship activity, so candidates in those areas should confirm sponsorship availability before applying.
How do I find visa-sponsored jobs at CDW?
The most reliable approach is to use Migrate Mate, which surfaces CDW job listings alongside verified sponsorship history so you can confirm sponsorship is actually available before investing time in an application. Searching CDW's own careers page is worthwhile, but job postings rarely specify visa sponsorship status. Cross-referencing with a platform that tracks real filing data removes the guesswork.
How do I approach CDW's hiring process as an international candidate?
Raise your visa status early, ideally in the initial recruiter screen, not at the offer stage. CDW has an established sponsorship program, so recruiters are generally familiar with the process. Be specific about your current authorization, your target visa type, and any timelines that apply (such as OPT expiration). The clearer you are upfront, the smoother the sponsorship conversation will be later in the process.
