Align your credentials to CDW's specializations
CDW organizes its consulting practice around specific technology partners like Cisco, Microsoft, and AWS. Certifications in these ecosystems signal relevance to hiring managers and strengthen your specialty occupation case for H-1B purposes.
Target CDW's segment-specific consultant openings
CDW structures Business Consultant roles by customer segment: corporate, government, healthcare, and education. Applying to the segment matching your domain experience narrows competition and positions you as a stronger sponsorship candidate from the first screen.
Understand how OPT fits CDW's hiring cycle
CDW hires Business Consultants on F-1 OPT, but the 12-month standard OPT window moves fast. If your degree is in a STEM-designated field, the 24-month STEM OPT extension gives you meaningful runway for CDW to file your H-1B.
Negotiate your start date around H-1B cap timelines
H-1B cap-subject registrations open in March with an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer in late spring or summer, align your start date to coincide with approval so CDW's filing timeline and your transition out of OPT don't conflict.
Confirm DOL prevailing wage compliance before accepting an offer
For H-1B and PERM filings, CDW must pay the DOL-determined prevailing wage for Business Consultant roles in your work location. Cross-reference the DOL's wage database for your specific city before evaluating any offer.
Browse CDW Business Consultant openings on Migrate Mate
Filtering by sponsorship history saves time when targeting a specific employer and role. Use Migrate Mate to surface active CDW Business Consultant postings alongside the visa types they've sponsored for this function.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does CDW sponsor H-1B visas for Business Consultants?
Yes, CDW sponsors H-1B visas for Business Consultant roles. The role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation because it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as business, information technology, or computer science. CDW has a consistent sponsorship track record for this function, which makes it a realistic target for international candidates pursuing cap-subject H-1B filings.
How do I apply for Business Consultant jobs at CDW?
You can apply directly through CDW's careers portal or find active openings filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your resume to CDW's technology partner ecosystem and segment focus areas. Mentioning relevant certifications (Cisco, Microsoft, AWS) and any prior experience selling or implementing enterprise IT solutions will strengthen your application at the screening stage.
Which visa types does CDW commonly use for Business Consultant roles?
CDW sponsors H-1B visas for experienced Business Consultants and accepts F-1 OPT and CPT candidates earlier in their careers. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying business or technology categories. For candidates seeking permanent residence, CDW has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, typically after establishing a track record in the role.
What qualifications does CDW expect for Business Consultant candidates?
CDW typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business, information technology, or a related field, combined with experience in technology sales, client relationship management, or IT solution design. Familiarity with CDW's key vendor partners strengthens your profile. For H-1B specialty occupation purposes, the degree requirement in a directly related field is what makes the role sponsorship-eligible, so degree-field alignment matters.
How do I time my application to avoid gaps in work authorization?
If you're on F-1 OPT, apply to CDW at least six months before your OPT expires to allow time for interviews, an offer, and H-1B registration. USCIS opens cap-subject H-1B registrations each March for an October 1 start date. STEM OPT extension holders have more flexibility, but filing early ensures CDW can submit your petition before your authorization lapses.
