This position provides technical leadership across modern Lakehouse architectures, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, MLflow, data governance, data quality, cloud-native design patterns, and AI/ML-enabled data solutions. The role serves as a trusted advisor to executives, technical stakeholders, and delivery teams by translating Databricks capabilities into measurable business outcomes, including scalability, cost efficiency, time-to-insight, and AI-driven innovation. This position will provide oversight and project guidance while taking a lead technical role in advancing CDW’s Databricks, cloud data platform, and Digital Velocity solution offerings.
What you will do
- Design, develop, and implement scalable Databricks architecture solutions using Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, MLflow, and related platform capabilities for enterprise customers.
- Collaborate with cloud solution architects, data engineers, data scientists, business analysts, and customer stakeholders to implement complex end-to-end enterprise data solutions using the Databricks platform.
- Partner with pre-sales teams on Databricks statements of work, including solution scope, estimates, assumptions, timelines, and implementation approach.
- Work directly with executive and technical stakeholders to articulate the business value of Databricks and AI/ML, translate capabilities into customer outcomes, and co-create innovation roadmaps.
- Provide billable consulting leadership through complex Databricks architecture, cloud-native pattern design, platform modernization, data governance, data quality, and cloud engineering solutions.
- Champion AI/ML as part of the delivery model by using automation, optimization, and machine learning frameworks to accelerate implementation, reduce cost, and increase customer impact.
- Assess customer data ecosystems, cloud data readiness, IT priorities, and business success measures to design implementation architectures and structured learning plans.
- Serve as a thought leader internally and externally by shaping Databricks and AI/ML strategy, mentoring peers, contributing to reusable delivery assets, and helping build CDW’s reputation as a trusted advisor.
What we expect of you
- Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of consulting experience, including hands-on experience designing and implementing Databricks platform solutions OR 14+ years of related IT, data platform, or cloud architecture experience.
- Deep expertise with Databricks platform capabilities, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, MLflow, data pipelines, ETL/ELT frameworks, batch and streaming solutions, PySpark, Scala, SQL, and Python scripting.
- Experience with data governance, data cataloging, master data management, data quality, RBAC, security, compliance, and data lineage using Unity Catalog and related modern data platform practices.
- Strong cloud data architecture experience across Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including data platform modernization, cloud-native design patterns, advanced analytics, and AI/ML solution enablement.
- Ability to optimize Databricks performance and cost through cluster configuration, job tuning, workload design, automation, and platform best practices.
- Proven ability to lead architecture decisions, own end-to-end technical accountability, mentor other resources, and guide platform-agnostic projects in agile, fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, adaptability, and executive presentation skills, with the ability to manage ambiguity and deliver clear business and technical insights.
- Preferred certifications include Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional and Databricks Certified AI/ML Engineer Associate or Professional.
- Willingness to travel to other CDW locations or client sites; a valid U.S. driver’s license is required.

Frame your credentials around CDW's solution areas
CDW organizes its consulting practice around specific technology domains like cloud, security, and networking. Tailor your resume to reflect hands-on experience in these areas, not just general IT consulting, so hiring managers can map your background directly to client engagements.
Search open roles by sponsorship eligibility first
Use Migrate Mate to filter Consultant openings at CDW by visa type before applying. This lets you confirm which roles align with your current status, whether you're on F-1 OPT, TN, or need H-1B sponsorship, before investing time in the application.
Verify CDW's E-Verify enrollment before your start date
CDW participates in E-Verify, which is required for F-1 OPT employment authorization. Confirm this early in your offer negotiation so there's no delay in your work authorization being processed once you accept.
Ask about PERM sponsorship timelines during the offer stage
If your goal is permanent residency via EB-2 or EB-3, raise the PERM process during offer discussions, not after you start. CDW has sponsored Green Cards for consulting staff, so understanding their internal policy timeline upfront helps you plan realistically.
Align your interview narrative to client-facing delivery
CDW Consultant roles are billable and client-facing, so interviewers assess how you communicate complex technology recommendations to non-technical stakeholders. Structure your examples around client outcomes, not internal projects, to match the profile they're hiring for.
Confirm H-1B filing deadlines relative to your OPT expiration
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT to H-1B, USCIS's April 1 filing window and October 1 start date are fixed. Work backward from your OPT end date with CDW's HR team to confirm the cap-subject petition timeline fits your authorization gap.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does CDW sponsor H-1B visas for Consultants?
Yes, CDW sponsors H-1B visas for Consultant roles. CDW has an established process for cap-subject H-1B petitions, including working within USCIS's annual lottery and filing window. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, CDW can also file an H-1B transfer without waiting for the next lottery cycle.
How do I apply for Consultant jobs at CDW?
Apply directly through CDW's careers portal, and use Migrate Mate to identify which open Consultant positions are linked to visa sponsorship before you apply. In your application materials, align your experience to CDW's core technology practice areas like cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, or managed services, since Consultant roles are organized around these specializations.
Which visa types does CDW commonly sponsor for Consultant roles?
CDW sponsors H-1B visas for the broadest range of Consultant candidates, and also works with F-1 OPT and CPT students in technology-related fields. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technology occupations may be eligible for TN visa status. For longer-term employees, CDW has a track record of sponsoring EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does CDW expect for sponsored Consultant positions?
CDW Consultant roles typically require a bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the technology domain you'd be working in, such as computer science, information systems, or engineering. Beyond the degree, CDW prioritizes demonstrable client-facing experience and technical depth in areas like cloud platforms, security frameworks, or network architecture, since Consultants are deployed directly to enterprise client engagements.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship to work at CDW?
The H-1B cap runs on a fixed federal calendar: USCIS opens registration in March, the lottery runs in April, and approved petitions take effect October 1. If you're on F-1 OPT, you need enough remaining OPT time to bridge to October 1, or a STEM OPT extension to cover the gap. Start conversations with CDW's recruiting team well before March so the petition can be filed on time.
