Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Consultant roles at AbbVie in medical affairs or regulatory functions require a degree directly tied to the job. A general business degree may not satisfy USCIS specialty occupation criteria if the role requires pharmacology, life sciences, or clinical expertise.
Search DOL disclosure data before applying
AbbVie files Labor Condition Applications with the DOL for each sponsored hire. Searching OFLC disclosure data for AbbVie consultant LCA filings shows you which locations, job titles, and functional areas have active sponsorship history, helping you target roles strategically.
Understand AbbVie's internal approval process for sponsorship
Large pharmaceutical employers like AbbVie route sponsorship decisions through HR legal and global mobility teams, not hiring managers. Raise your visa situation early in the recruiter screening call so the right stakeholders are looped in before an offer is extended.
Position your pharma consulting background for therapeutic focus
AbbVie's Consultant hires are heavily concentrated in immunology, oncology, and neuroscience. Framing your consulting experience around these therapeutic areas, rather than general healthcare, makes your application directly relevant to the teams doing the most active hiring.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Consultant roles at AbbVie
Browse AbbVie's verified sponsoring Consultant openings on Migrate Mate, filtered by your visa type. This cuts out guesswork about which roles have active sponsorship support and surfaces positions matched to your authorization category.
Build your offer timeline around LCA certification
Your start date depends on DOL certifying the LCA before AbbVie can file the H-1B or E-3 petition with USCIS. Standard LCA certification takes seven business days, but errors or audit flags can delay the process, so account for buffer when negotiating your start date.

Find Consultant at AbbVie JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AbbVie sponsor H-1B visas for Consultants?
Yes, AbbVie sponsors H-1B visas for Consultant roles. The process requires AbbVie to first file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL, then submit an H-1B petition to USCIS on your behalf. For cap-subject H-1B cases, you must be selected in the annual lottery before AbbVie can file. Consultant roles in specialty functions like medical affairs, regulatory affairs, and market access typically meet USCIS specialty occupation requirements.
Which visa types does AbbVie commonly sponsor for Consultant roles?
AbbVie sponsors a wide range of visa types for Consultant positions, including H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, TN, J-1, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT, as well as permanent residence pathways through EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality and the specific role. Australian citizens often use the E-3, Canadians and Mexicans may qualify for TN, and recent graduates typically begin on OPT while the H-1B process is initiated.
What qualifications does AbbVie expect for Consultant roles?
AbbVie typically looks for advanced degrees in life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, health economics, or business, depending on the consulting function. Roles in medical affairs often require a PharmD, MD, or PhD, while market access and commercial consulting roles lean toward MBA or public health backgrounds. Relevant industry experience in pharmaceuticals or biotechnology, particularly in AbbVie's core therapeutic areas of immunology, oncology, and neuroscience, strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How do I apply for Consultant jobs at AbbVie?
You can find and apply for Consultant roles at AbbVie through Migrate Mate, which lists verified sponsoring positions filtered by visa type so you can confirm sponsorship support before applying. Once you identify a role, applications go through AbbVie's careers portal. Disclose your visa situation to the recruiter during the initial screening call so AbbVie's global mobility team can assess feasibility before the process advances to offer stage.
How do I manage the timing between my offer and visa filing at AbbVie?
After AbbVie extends a verbal offer, the formal sponsorship process begins with LCA filing at the DOL, which takes a minimum of seven business days under normal conditions. USCIS then processes the petition, with standard processing taking several months unless AbbVie opts for premium processing. If you're transitioning from OPT or another status, confirm your current authorization end date early so AbbVie's immigration team can structure the filing timeline around any gap risk.
