Align your degree to the specialty occupation standard
Deloitte's Business Consultant roles require a directly related degree for H-1B specialty occupation approval. A general business degree may not suffice if the role is analytics- or technology-focused. Confirm your field matches the specific practice area before applying.
Target practice areas with active hiring cycles
Deloitte recruits Business Consultants heavily through on-campus programs in fall and spring. Applying through those pipelines, rather than general postings, puts you in the intake cohort most likely to include visa sponsorship budget from the start.
Ask about sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Deloitte sponsors H-1B, E-3, and H-1B1 visas depending on your nationality. Confirm which type applies to you before signing. For E-3 applicants, the Labor Condition Application the employer files with DOL must reflect your actual role title and location.
Prepare for the H-1B lottery timeline early
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Consulting firms typically onboard new consultants in September, so offers made in spring hinge on lottery selection. Have a backup plan if you're not selected.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Business Consultant roles
Filtering for visa-sponsoring employers in consulting is time-consuming. Use Migrate Mate to surface Business Consultant openings at firms like Deloitte that have a track record of sponsoring the visa type you need, so you're not applying blind.
Document project outcomes before behavioral interviews
Deloitte's consulting interviews emphasize structured problem-solving and measurable client impact. Prepare specific examples from internships, case competitions, or prior roles that demonstrate quantifiable outcomes. Generic answers are a quick filter-out at this firm.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Deloitte sponsor H-1B visas for Business Consultants?
Yes, Deloitte sponsors H-1B visas for Business Consultants. The firm participates in the annual USCIS H-1B registration process each March, with employment typically starting October 1. Because selection depends on the lottery, an offer doesn't guarantee authorization. Deloitte also sponsors H-1B1 visas for Chilean and Singaporean nationals and E-3 visas for Australian nationals, which bypass the lottery entirely.
How do I apply for Business Consultant jobs at Deloitte?
Applications go through Deloitte's careers portal, but campus recruiting is the most common entry point for early-career Business Consultant roles. Deloitte runs structured recruiting cycles in fall and spring at target universities. Experienced hires apply directly to open postings. You can also browse visa-sponsoring Business Consultant openings at Deloitte through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by sponsorship type.
Which visa types does Deloitte use for Business Consultant roles?
Deloitte sponsors H-1B visas for most international Business Consultants, along with H-1B1 visas for Chilean and Singaporean nationals and E-3 visas for Australian nationals. For longer-term employees, the firm supports employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications, which typically involve PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor.
What qualifications does Deloitte expect for a Business Consultant role?
Most Business Consultant positions require a bachelor's degree in a field directly relevant to the practice area, such as finance, economics, information systems, or engineering. For H-1B purposes, the degree must qualify the role as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Deloitte also places strong weight on analytical skills, communication, and prior internship or project experience in a consulting or client-facing context.
How do I plan my timeline if I need Deloitte to sponsor my visa?
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS registration opens in March, selection results come in April, and the earliest employment start date is October 1. If you're graduating in May, that creates a gap unless you have OPT authorization to bridge it. E-3 and H-1B1 visa applicants have more flexibility since those visas aren't lottery-based and can be filed closer to your start date.
