Frame your credentials around Google's BD expectations
Google's Business Development Consultant roles emphasize strategic partnerships and product-led growth, not traditional sales cycles. Tailor your resume and portfolio to highlight experience with technology ecosystems, API-driven business models, or cloud platform deals rather than generic revenue metrics.
Target Google's vertical-specific BD teams
Google organizes BD hiring around verticals like Retail, Financial Services, and Healthcare. Applying to a team aligned with your industry background signals fit beyond just the job title and increases the chance your application reaches a hiring manager who understands your specific experience.
Distinguish between E-3, H-1B1, and H-1B paths early
Australian and Singaporean nationals can pursue the E-3 or H-1B1 rather than entering the H-1B lottery. These cap-exempt categories let Google move faster on your offer, so clarify your nationality with the recruiter before they initiate any internal immigration assessment.
Prepare for Google's internal immigration review timeline
After an offer is extended, Google's immigration team conducts an internal review before filing with USCIS. This adds weeks before a petition is submitted. Factor that lag into your OPT or current status expiry, especially if you're in a 60-day grace period between roles.
Use Migrate Mate to filter BD roles by sponsorship type
Not every Google Business Development posting reflects active sponsorship availability. Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by the visa categories Google is actively filing, so you apply to positions where your visa pathway is already supported rather than discovering limitations post-offer.
Verify your LCA wage level matches your offered role scope
Google files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B petition. If your BD Consultant offer includes a narrow scope, the certified prevailing wage level may not reflect your actual responsibilities. Review the LCA details with your attorney before USCIS adjudication begins.

Find Business Development Consultant at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Consultants?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Consultant roles. The process begins after an offer is accepted, with Google's internal immigration team coordinating the Labor Condition Application filing with the DOL and the subsequent I-129 petition with USCIS. H-1B cap-subject candidates must clear the annual lottery before a petition can be filed, so timing relative to April 1 matters significantly.
Which visa types does Google commonly use for Business Development Consultant roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Business Development Consultants. H-1B covers the broadest range of nationalities but requires lottery selection. H-1B1 is available to Singaporean and Chilean nationals, while E-3 is exclusively for Australian citizens. Both H-1B1 and E-3 are cap-exempt, which means Google can file them year-round without lottery risk.
What qualifications does Google expect for Business Development Consultant roles?
Google typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business, economics, computer science, or a related field, combined with experience in technology partnerships, enterprise sales strategy, or platform ecosystem development. Roles that involve cloud or API product lines often expect familiarity with Google Cloud or Google Workspace. An MBA is common at senior levels but not universally required for consultant-level positions.
How do I apply for Business Development Consultant jobs at Google?
You can apply through Google's careers portal or browse verified sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate, which filters active Business Development Consultant openings at Google by visa type. Google's hiring process for this function typically includes a recruiter screen, a behavioral interview, and a case-based presentation round focused on partnership or market strategy. Indicate your visa requirements early in the recruiter conversation so immigration review can begin in parallel with the offer stage.
How do I manage my visa status timeline while waiting for Google to file my H-1B petition?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT end date against Google's expected filing window. Google must file your H-1B petition before April 1 for the October 1 start date, and USCIS receipt of the petition allows you to continue working if your OPT expires in between, known as the cap-gap provision. Communicate your status expiry date to Google's immigration team immediately after accepting the offer so they can sequence the LCA and I-129 filings accordingly.
